the belly is towards the tip, narrow I reach up into the pelvis to disconnect the bits I don't split the bone. That particular specimen appears to have been sharpened that is not the original shape. That particular picture is not the best representation of the pattern

Thank you for digging that out Matty, there's a much better picture in there.

One of the main reasons for me to seek out this pattern with this form/dimensions was that it does NOT have a pivot...Nathan imagine if you decide to do that in a folding knife! OMFG!
Folder with a stabbier profile of a UFK. I'm in!Nathan imagine if you decide to do that in a folding knife! OMFG!
Carbon fiber scales please! And another run of those skinners.....with carbon fiber![]()
I don't see how this knife can be called a skinner - there is no belly to speak of? Looks nice and stabby, though...
I seem to recall that Nathan made this model with himself in mind as the user, but can't remember how he described just how he used it that caused him to build it as he did. Maybe the thread guru, Mr San Diego akaCasinostocks , will have the answer, considering he has memorized all the threads (he loves macrame).
Thanks!@moparsbob check this thread out ---> https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/d2-drop-point-hunter-skinner-nathans-early-work.1421049/
Pay special attention to post #24. It's explains the method behind the evil genius' method... I believe this is whatbetzner may have been referring to.
My favorite pattern and I have yet to own one![]()

Because Nathan's D2 is amazing...the stuff of legends. Seriously, angels sing while I break down boxes with my D2 EDC...don't even get me started on the D2 HDFKThanks!
Plenty of hunting knives are made of D2 and for good reason, afaik. In view of the increased corrosion resistance achieved by the Delta HT, is there any reason not to make this - or similar - pattern in 3V?

Just get Nathan to send you a blank. Then you can have it fitted for any scales you like!
