What knives do you absolutely not like or not understand the hype? I'll go first.

This will go well with all the ZT and Emerson love in here.

I wasn't much of a ZT fan at all until norcalAF norcalAF hooked me up with my first 0640. Now it's on my always buy on the spot list. So many fun mods, a fantastic grind on 20CV, outstanding action, great ergos. My very favorite knife under $300.

I can hear the sound of cat getting let out of the bag!

They are definitely a specialized tool. It worked well for what I did with it, but it also took up a lot of pocket space (even clipped), and it didn't feel like the cost/benefit came out in favor of it.

I came to a similar conclusion. For me the deciding factor came from my preference to carry it weak-side reverse-grip. The idea of having such a mean slicey blade facing forward and having the possibility (however so slight) to open in an extreme scenario (car crash for example) just wasn't worth it.

I will say one thing about Karambits. Although I'm not a big proponent of knives for self-defense, when I'm in my normal boxing stance, having one in my lead hand reverse grip with my right hand free and using a Janich type slicing technique feels so instantly natural to me that it's almost uncanny. Don't get me wrong, I'm not nor do I ever want to be a knife fighter, but I've trained with one a little bit and it certainly was fun, and actually surprisingly intuitive.

It was also quite useful for tasks like pulling twine/cord taut with my right hand and waving out the Karambit with my left for the cut.

Still, after a couple of years of carrying one I decided it wasn't worth it to me.

Blasphemy. LOL. I am a CRK fan. Although their willingness to make almost every configuration in lefty models mixed with their insanely good customer service are some of my biggest drivers. I understand some people don't care about such things. If you prefer the newest flavor of the week, flashy designs, flippers, and a ton of different steel options, I see why some wouldn't be a fan.

I was never a fan of the tactical and Spyderco type knife. Give me a god old traditional folder; preferably 2 blade max and between 2 3/4" - 3 1/4" with natural scales.

I have the Zero Tolerance 0452CF. I love the shape of the blade and knife in general, plus it is big. But it is very hard to open one-handed. You have to be EXTREMELY careful so that you don't put pressure on the scales; otherwise it jams the mechanisms and does not flip open. Believe me, it doesn't take much pressure. You have to hold the knife very loosely between your thumb and fingers in your hand to flip it open. I absolutely don't like that. A friend of mine has the same knife and same problem.

Handsome knife but that’s an annoying issue to have. For the price ZT charges, it should be dang close to perfection outta the box.

There are knives less than half that price with no deployment issues.
