What knives do you absolutely not like or not understand the hype? I'll go first.

Lefty here, too. Though mostly adaptive, shoot rifles and play the guitar right handed because that's the way I grew up. Just deal with liner locks as they are.
I'm left handed and right eye dominant. I shoot pistol lefty and long gun righty. I have a few knives that are so good I'll accept the righty models unless and until they make lefties. (Koenig Arius, Arno Bernard iMamba, and Grimsmo Norseman are some of those in that category.)

It's so weird, being a lefty. I shoot rifles and pistols right handed, bows left handed. Batted and threw left handed in high school. I think there's a brain connection - I play the guitar right handed but can't sing and play guitar simultaneously. Someone mentioned if I played guitar left handed, it would be easier to sing at the same time. But for the life of me, I can't play guitar left handed. Yet.

lots of folks are like this...myself included.

I cut, write, throw shoot left handed with a right eye dominance, ill kick a ball right footed, throw and catch left handed so baseball ain't happening for me 🫢🙃

Don't worry bud, I can't play with either hand and can't sing 😁

I'll never get the demand for Sharknivco. They seem like very nice knives. They look to be on par with Koenig, Shiro, Oz, etc. in terms of craftsmanship. What I don't get, is how they're going for 2-3 times the price. Maybe I'd feel different if I got one in hand, but there's no way in hell I'm dropping nearly $2k just to find out.

Dude! I am a righty, but boy do I "get it".

Had a medical event in 2003 that left me blind in the right eye and "legally blind" in th left eye (at about 20/150). . .and that is what I work with. A few years ago I shot a pistol right handed but left eyed and managed to put full magazine into a silhouette in slow fire. And the condition messed up other co-ordination things too. Fortunately, knives are tactile enough that I can still use my multitool with confidence. Bought a new to me knife a few weeks ago (CRKT M18) and it lives clipped to the lip of the shoe box at elbow level b y my recliner. I am getting aquainter with it by reaching over (righty) to hold, orient and deploy it. Can 't see it till it gets in front of me, so it has to feel right. Can't flip the clip to change the pocket orientation, so this famiklurization is important.

I have the Zero Tolerance 0452CF. I love the shape of the blade and knife in general, plus it is big. But it is very hard to open one-handed. You have to be EXTREMELY careful so that you don't put pressure on the scales; otherwise it jams the mechanisms and does not flip open. Believe me, it doesn't take much pressure. You have to hold the knife very loosely between your thumb and fingers in your hand to flip it open. I absolutely don't like that. A friend of mine has the same knife and same problem.

I found this video. Apparently this is typical for this model and has a reason. I still find it strange because you have to loosen your grip on the knife to open it.

On an impulse buy I picked up a Gerber Key Note and it has to be the most useless knife of the more common knife maker's that I’ve run across. The Key Note is about the size of a Spyderco McBee and yes it costs a fraction of the McBee price but it’s less useful then the cheap disposable box cutter you see at a hardware store checkout.
It bugs me that I spent the money on the Key note because it’s the only knife I’ve ever thrown away, but it does highlight the high level of thought, engineering and materials that Spyderco put into the McBee.

Folks, this is not the place for discussing cross eye dominance, shooting, guitar playing, penmanship, batting or throwing a ball. Let's stick to the theme of the OP or we will be forced to move along. Thank you.

Morakniv. I hate scandi grinds, they just cut like garbage on most things. They’re nice for carving on wood so I guess they’re good if you’re a pro whittler who uses knives way too big for whittling? lol but if you want to slice an onion or an apple they are like a splitting wedge. Plus scandi grind knives (my experience is with the traditional moras) generally have slippery little handles that taper towards the unguarded blade so you are just begging to be cut. Not to mention the cheesy sheath they all have. And the plastic knives are hideous.

I will forgive mora for most of that if you are talking about the $10 Mora that lives in my tacklebox.

I definitely don't get those expensive knives. I think they're way over the line. But of course if some folks would send me a case lot of 10K+ blades I could see myself changing my mind.

Disclaimer, do not send me expensive knives. I will do bad stuff with them as I am very irresponsible.

I mean....

🤣 🤣 🤣

Speaking as someone who just bought a very expensive plain old framelock yet who also owns plenty of cool, innovative, neat designs with different locks, I don't have a problem with your opinion, the real question is: why not both?
I have no problem with what anyone buys...I just don't understand what the overall appeal is to some of these boring, unexciting cookie cutters? It reminds me of the late 1990's when cars all started looking the same! It was a sad, boring time for car enthusiasts, LOL! But yeah, buy what you like...it doesn't affect me one way or the other. This is just a discussion topic on an internet knife forum! But to answer your question...the answer is always to buy both! That should be rule #10 or something, LOL! 😂🤣😂🤣

Frankly, I own and love knives from whisper light pen knives to folding brutes like the AD10. (And the same for straight knives, from tiny to quite large.) It just needs to be well executed for its genre and have a function. I love some of my production pieces as much as I do finely crafted custom knives.

It's not either / or...but if it is for others, that's okay too.

Some folks have a common theme for their collecting. Mine, not so much. (I do try to weed out work from makers I later find to be objectionable, however.)
