  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

What knives do you absolutely not like or not understand the hype? I'll go first.

Every decade of my life had a knife hype I couldn’t resist:

Scout knives – “Be prepared for everything!” Swiss Army knives are actually useful, I own a dozen. But when they get thicker than they are tall (like the SwissChamp at 33×26 mm)…
Rambo survival knives – Hollow handle, fishing kit inside, spine saw, tan nylon sheath. Had one. Felt unstoppable at age 15.
Tactical tantos – Half-serrated, black-coated stainless, looked tough but sliced like a shovel.
Bushcraft knives – low Scandi grind, 5 mm thick, natural wood, leather sheath… overbuilt to carve a stick.
Titanium-framed supersteel folders – Beautiful art pieces. I still end up carrying a €35 knife on most days.

Whatever comes next, I’ll probably fall for it again 😅

Recycled steel + natural wood = new “authenticity” trend (Mora Ash)
Modular EDC SAK folders with swappable blades/tools
AI-designed ergonomics tuned to your grip scan

Enhanced cybernetics - why carry a knife when you can just pop out your wolverine claws to open the mail?

The hype over olive drab exceeds my understanding. I get having a favorite color, and I like green, even puke green knife handles, but there's a widespread obsession with this particular hue that makes little sense to me.

The basic colors of Black, Brown, & Green are always going to be Cool...

Hobo knives. How do you use the fork and the knife at the same time when cutting say a steak?
Ill pass on this one too

Hobo knives can separate/break up into knife, spoon and fork. That is the way to use them - easy really.

There are knives of all kinds that appeal to many other people that don't appeal to me but that doesn't mean that I don't understand the "hype" associated with those knives.

I do but I just don't view those knives with the same level of adoration as others seem do and, of course, there are many others who do not share the same level of appreciation for the knives that I most highly value.

That's just the way it is. 🤷

Yep, I have that same exact hobo knife. True to its hobo origins, it got violent with me one day and nearly wiped my thumb off after cutting a bit of chicken.

Even though I don't carry it much anymore, this crease on my thumb is a permanent reminder. 😢

I like this version, personally

I like that it's subtle.

This is too much:

But I'm sure it has a purpose. Just not one I'd use.
