What knives do you absolutely not like or not understand the hype? I'll go first.

Already mentioned by several, but I don't like Spyderco. I just don't like the look of the broad leaf blades, that seem to take up ALL my pocket despite not being that big of a knife.
Almost all their models look the same to me, ugly.
I own several but I hardly ever carry them. They are some of the sharpest knives I have owned, but I don't understand why everyone goes gaga over them. To me they are just OK.
I know everyone has different tastes.

Don't worry Coleman. I think a few Finns have miraculously managed to survive and can provide instruction on puukko safety.
After the bars close, of course.

(I'm a fan.)

I’m gonna jump in and add more hate to Spyderco. Sorry guys, I really am. There are a ton of yall who love them, I just don’t get it. Why is there such a huge Cyclops on the blade? Ever since I first saw them in the 90s…nah. They seem to be a great American company. Bravo…others may, I will not.

And Demko folders. I don’t understand the draw. Yall enjoy.

Carry on.
I used to say the same thing about Spydercos but then I bought and started using a PM2 three or four years ago. The “Spydie hole” is the easiest configuration I’ve found to open with gloves on since I don’t really care for autos. Plus it just fits my hand perfectly. They’re great users but admittedly some people go a little over the top chasing down all the flavor of the week color combos.

It’s also cool that they do collabs with a lot of different designers. Some of them are hit or miss but at least they keep things from getting boring.

I just picked up an Alcyone, possibly one of their cheapest pocket knives. It's broken in enough, really quickly, to the point I can finger flick it open from the back. Still cannot thumb flick it open though. But, it's a cute little ugly knife.

For me personally, any knife that's more or less unobtanium. A few of the makers already mentioned seem to fall in that category pretty often.

Without even getting into the item's price tag itself, if something requires me to watch for a "drop", enter a lottery, or sign up for a wait list to even attempt to purchase, I'll pass.

I'm sure I'm missing out on some great knives, but there are plenty of options that meet my needs, desires, and budget that are readily available from a variety of sources. Without jumping through any hoops.

Agreed, PM2 is one of the best knives ever made in my humble opinion….

Candidly, this is it. This is why. I know it is for me, at least!

I think this thread has got some meaningful traction. Not a whole lot of butt hurt going on here, you guys have given me a little bit of hope in humanity. God bless.
So much is a matter of taste, though not al, that there's room for opinions. Of course, everyone knows Spyderco knives are ugly but beautiful in their own way, so anyone criticizing Spyderco has simply not enough developed taste yet.

Anyone feel like touching case? Y/N?
Centering issues, play [wiggle], pins and bolsters catching on thumbs, etc. Their QC is a hit and miss for what their prices are currently, same with otter messer, I've received excellent and some truly scary examples from them. As always I speak from my gatherings

Most of the spyderco designs are not my thing and I've never had one, but that Smock is pretty sweet looking ......lol. I'd go for that one.
I really like the look of the Smock too. The shop I frequent finally got a shipment of them in a while ago and they felt terrible in my hand. I was a bit disappointed but such is life. That’s why I try before I buy.
