What knives have you "TRIED" to like but just "COULDENT"??

I tried to like the benchmade mini-grip, but it was so small it couldent open it with one hand without fumbling around...

The BM Grips have come up so often. Do you guys think that if BM ever wised up and offered it in a flat g-10 handle that it would be one of the most beloved Benchmades ever made? I do. :)

Definately! I'd be all over it! Sure, it'd be a bit heavier but it'd be worth every oz IMO. And for a GRIPtilian, the full size doesn't offer an excellent grip. G10 would fix that.

I tried very hard to like my Buck Large Bucklite folder. I can't like it because of its stiff lock, it makes one-handed opening nearly impossible. Sad 'cuz the rest of the knife is quite good.

sorry to say this but I tried real hard to like my BK14 but I can't.
Well I do at first, but after using it, I find the knife looses the edge pretty quick. I polished the edge, shave with it, cut some cord or some vegetable, then the edge's gone...

I wanted to like the Spyderco Navaja but I don't. It just sits in my deck draw. Oh yeah I forgot about a Microtech scarab I bought last year. I couldn't get rid of it fast enough.

Spyderco Native 4 CF. F&F was really rough and it never made its way into my pocket, which was a real shame because it's one of the few Spyderco designs that I like. My CQC 7 is another knife I was never fond of, feels like a brick, liner lock is a pain (literally) to disengage, chisel grind on the wrong side for a right hand knife and is a chore to sharpen without it looking like a dogs breakfast, and the F&F did not reflect the cost.

A few Spydercos and other American knife fixtures top my list.

Military - I love everything about it except the way its handle rests in my hand. Blade and handle length, blade and handle material, lock strength, width - everything about this knife is great on paper... and plain ol' wrong in my paw.

Native - the handle's just too freakin' small for me.

Endura 4 - virtually the same gripe as the Military. Ironically, the Delica 4 fits my large-ish hand really well.

Buck 110 - if it had any vestige of a forefinger guard, I'd snap one up in a moment. Alas, a redesign is not likely at all.

Benchmade 710 - the handle's shape slides my forefinger closer to the blade than my thumb; backwards finger placement! No thanks.

I'm a big Spyderco fan and I really like the look of the Native but it just felt like a brick in my hand, terrible ergos for me personally. Benchmade mini-skirsmish...where the hell do they get off calling this thing mini?! That one had to go. But my biggest dissapointment has been with a small sebenza. After hearing so many good things about it and anticipating it so much, I was pretty ho hum when it finally arrived. Plus the thing is tiny...tiny! Maybe I'd like the large better but IDK, that put me off the sebenza.

I never really liked my Camillus Pilot's Survival knife, just a big ole' hunk of metal and leather.

All of my other knives, I love.

Rekat Carnivore - gritty action... still have it... not sure why
Spyderco Chinook 1 - just could not get used to it, blade was pretty dull out of the box... still have it... not sure why
Benchmade Monochrome - meh, clip was weak, handle was uncomfortable... somewhere in the bottom of Boston Harbor right now
EDI Genesis I - liner lock was so weak it should have been renamed "finger guillotine"... but makes a great candidate for a framelock conversion, seen'em, love'em... gotta get that done soon
Blink I, too small and not enough grip for an AO... traded for a Twitch I
Any fixed blade with a sawback

Zero Tolerance 301/303. Feels terrible in my hand. Bites into my fingers when I have a good grip, recurve of blade forces cuts at really awkward angles (and in general, I really like recurves).

Shame, it's a hell of a lot of knife for the money.

Puzzled why you have to reserve judgement of Spydies until you've tried them all. Thin handles. big spydie hole that brings the knife spine backwards. Little to no flippers whatsoever. Ergonomically awkward (for me). And I don't think I've ever seen one with what I would remotely call beautiful lines. I don't need to try 150 knives to know that I don't like them.

But then, I never tried to like them, so it didn't warrant mentioning in this thread until I read the defenses to "try them all".

I think its time for a couple of you guys to go to email to talk about Spydies instead of this thread. The thread is taking a turn in the wrong direction.

You're not serious are you :confused:

Its not about trying them all, its how they worded it.

Nah, I feel its a good thread. I mean it is titled, what you couldn't warm up to. Not exactly a warm fuzzy thread but its an honest one. Start an opposite themed one and you will likely see spyderco mentioned more than anything x2+ so its all good.

Spyderco Military. The handle to blade ratio is just too big, and it takes up way too much pocket space. That said, it makes a great knife to use when wearing gloves.

Tops Cheetah. Negative blade angle, which is something I like in a knife, nice size for an EDC fixed blade... but painful jimping and being ground way too thick behind the edge for effective cutting killed it for me.

Case Congress: Nice size, good looks, 4 lovely thin, differently shaped and sized blades for different uses... but the pulls on the center ones are hidden behind the outer blades, making them too hard to open.
