What knives have you "TRIED" to like but just "COULDENT"??

Zero Tolerance 0551 only ZT I've had I didn't like. Just thought the opening was too slow for me.

Cold Steel Spectre, I tried for about a year, but I just didn't like it, chucked on the bay for a loss

1) Tantos (Devil of a time sharpening past the hump. Usually ended up ruining 'em trying to grind that hump into a curve.)
2) Serrations (Devil of a time sharpening. Got easier with practice but just prefer plainedges.) :grumpy:
3) Any "shelf queen" (too pretty to use) even though I still have 'em. ;)
Only one actually sent back...BM Sibert MPR. Just didn't work out for me. :(

I tried to like Kershaw but i just haven't really liked the knives I've had from them, except the Speedform that was a really nice knife, i especially liked the pocket clip, i regret selling it. I haven't really had that many Kershaw, i guess maybe i haven't gotten the right ones. I've had a Leek, storm, and a Rake, i had rust problems with the leek and storm on the handle and blade, and screw problems, they wouldn't fit so well, i also don't really like the ramp thumb studs, they wore on my thumbs after a while. The ergonomics on the rake didn't work out for me, my hand felt cramped gripping it.

I also couldn't warm up to the Spyderco Endura, i didn't like the ergonomics, the spacing of the handle is odd, for he record i love the Military handle, the endura just didn't do it for me. This next one might come as a surprise to some, but i really did not like the G10 Delica, i really disliked it. I love the Delica so i thought, with G10 it would be even better, and i had a G10 caly 3 one time that was really nice so i thought the feel would be similar, but it was quite different than i had expected. I was disappointed with the feel of the Delica's G10, it was not very grippy, the handle felt smaller in my hand than the FRN ones, and most disappointing was the edge, it had a small relief edge unlike the later released FFG FRN Delicas. I couldn't get the G10 delica as sharp as i was used to getting other spydercos on my sharpmaker. The G10 Delica just wasn't for me.

Spyderco Military- I loved the feel of the knife in hand but something was just not right for me.
Sebenza- Like others here I REALLY wanted to love the sebenza. In the end it just failed to impress me.
Benchmade Rukus- I love the knife, It's a beast but it's just a tad to thick as far as the handles go. I've had several and sold them all.
Spyderco manix 2- Lovely utility knife. I just didn't like the ergonomics of the handle and blade.

Tanto edges are actually easier to sharpen if you free-hand sharpen on a stone. The hump means you only have to sharpen 2 straight blades, and by keeping the blade with the flat edge, you sharpen to hump to a point. Did it on my Tanto, so I know it works. Agreed that serrations suck to sharpen, and they give pretty meager advantages. Agreed that a "shelf queen" is annoying (and I now have a term to uses thanks). Just remember that for every different blade shape, there is a best way to sharpen it.

Thanks Cold Kill! I wish I'd thought of placing the Tri-Angle stones on the base of Sharpmaker as benchstone at the time. (Lo, these many years ago.) :o Sadly the only tantos I have now I'm keeping pristine in order to find them better homes.

Bark River Northstar.

It was a beautiful knife with curly maple/red liners and was sharp, but the handle was too small and narrow for my medium-sized hands.

Queen Gunstock.

D2 blades were unnecessarily difficult to sharpen, and the corners were too sharp. Lovely looking knife, though.

I've bought a lot of Spydercos in the past, and once even bought a package deal from a dealer at a knife show consisting of a number of Enduras, Police, & Dragonflys. I ended up giving them all away, I just couldn't get into them. I just have one Spyderco in my collection of knives, a Native 4. Even then, it hasn't even made it into my EDC rotation. I just don't like the way they look. The only one I like from them is the Spyker collaboration.

the spyderco leafstorm.
i liked it very much when i bought it but after a while i didn't seem to "connect" with it!

Glock FM78...

Despite beeing tough as hell, I never warmed up to it... I liked the looks of it so I bought it (the fact that it was Glock branded played a great role in this purchase). Used it once, sold it, used the money to buy beer.
Too heavy, too thin, no belly whatsoever.

I know i'm gonna get lit up for saying this but I could never like the full-sized Griptilian(s). I like the mini because it has full nested steel liners and just feels more robust than the full size. I can't get past how cheap and plasticy the full size Griptilian's handles feel. Especially for the price.

I agree. I was in the market for a full sized grip but after handling one in the store I quickly changed my mind. For the price the handle feels very cheap.

The only knife I have bought and tried to like but couldn't was the BK2. I can't really say that because I did like it, it just wasn't practical for me. So I traded it.

Spyderco Military
It has just too big a handle for my hands, but love the Para2. When I open the Military after using the Para2, it just feels ridiculous :)
I kept it anyway, because it definitely has its uses in the winter when I'm wearing gloves.

Emersons. No matter how much I liked the look of the models I've owned, I just cannot get past the chisel grind. That includes the tradional "V" grind they put out. :o

I had the Pardue and the Ritter but finally sold them cuz they never made it to pocket. Just ridiculous round, smooth, bulbous handles. Sounded and felt chintzy.

Try taking the pocet clip off one and deploying it. You can't do it. Clearly a cr*p design. Two slabs of G-10 on them and Benchmade wouldn't be able to keep them in stock and I'd pay a few extra $$ for the change too.
