What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Most of you reading this, if you've been around for a few years, will remember when these came out in December 2012! It was a great day for me - imagine a dream coming true!!;)View attachment 1485960 View attachment 1485961
It's been a long painful year for a lot of us, and GEC's business model has had to adjust! No more SFOs or the associated Joy, seemed to be forthcoming! I did feel like I was hit by a speeding train:eek:, and my so-called career as a knife dabbler had come to an end.
But lo and behold, Bill felt he owed me one more run of TCs!!
Seems that this is the right time, because look what's coming!!:cool:View attachment 1485964
I don't know if this will be the last one:rolleyes:, so contact your favorite dealer, because they will be shipping from GEC soon!! I will post the labels as soon as I finish them!!:D
Thanks Bill!!

Thanks for making my day sir!

Congratulations Charlie. I have been thinking about you and how this change would affect Waynorth knives and your GEC SFO’s. I hope this isn’t the last of a great run, but if it is then it will a beautiful run to finish with.

Perhaps Eric Albers would be able to make a run of Waynorth knives for you in the future.

Really glad to see this Charlie although most likely I won't be able to land one, it looks like it is going to be a real beauty!

I really like the choice of 4 pins, and SPEAR  Four Pin Special  I'd like one to keep my old warrior from '12 company but the chances look slim.

Very heartening to see Bill Howard making this effort, cheers us all up :)

That is awesome news, Charlie!! I am going to be scrambling like a mad man to get my hands on one of these sweet barlows! Good luck to everyone on the hunt.

Whew, congratulations Charlie! Also, I'm once again super glad I'm not a Barlow guy, because the scramble for this knife will be like the sweatiest of Northwoods drops. LOL
Same, I was a Barlow guy but lost my passion for them because they are absolute unobtanium. No sense in getting excited over something that sells out before even being made available for purchase

Wow you guys are crazy! I just talked to my local dealer on that list that lives right down the road from me, and I’m already #50 on his list. Absolutely nuts. Good luck to everyone, I’m going to sit back and watch!

... I’m going to sit back and watch!

Me too. Y'all have at it ;)

Meanwhile..."What makes a good, traditional Barlow?"
This 1971 Case belonged to my Dad. He was a millwright with Chrysler and always carried a Barlow. Used them on the job. This one got used a lot. Then he gave it to me and I carried and used it a lot. Despite missing metal and being old and used hard, both blades still snap open and closed and there is no wobble or play. Its still a solid knife.

And here's a pretty one :)

i didnt see Charlie's announcement until about 11PM last night, and immediately emailed my dealer. He was quick to respond that he already had over 50 on his list! These are going to be extremely hard to get. Best of luck to all. Looking forward to seeing pictures and hopefully i will have one of my own to fawn over...
