What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

I just got a knife from my favorite GEC dealer. It had a tube in it with Charlie's words of wisdom and a picture of a couple of old geezers who just can't seem to get that fence painted.

Oh, yeah, there was one of them Sepia Saw Cut bone TC Barlows in there with a snazzy button besides!

Heard it was gonna be 10-20 knives of each cover to dealers.

I got an email from a dealer saying that, then another from the same dealer saying they were only getting about 5.

but anyway, there really is a history to these glitter handles. Scientific American (iirc, it’s in my article) had an article on how to make glitter celluloid handles for your pocket knife.

Yikes, worse then I heard. Maybe they were talking about the Osage and Glitter combined. Either way they are all spoken for already.

Exactly. Same here. I know who you are talking about.

That said, I’m really trying not to be negative on here, but none of the above makes me feel positive feelings or think positive thoughts. The TC being made not as an SFO for waynorth waynorth without a word of discussion? Not at all how I would’ve hoped Bill would handle that transition, if a transition was to be made.

In fact, still in the interest of trying not to be overly negative, I’ll say that it’s a little disheartening.

I’m with Logan on this one. Not the way I would’ve liked to see that transition happen.

+1, that's terrible!

Glad to see you still have the glitter gold* Barlow, Charlie! I got that at the Canal Street First Annual Open House. Eric A. was gracious to give me a personal tour as I was the first one there when the doors opened, and helped me pick that one out. I also picked up some reclaimed chestnut barn floor Half-Moon Trappers. I thought the Barlow was garish but fun, and it might be a nice contrast to your more august personal collection.

*Whenever I read “glitter gold”, I always hear the voice of Eddie Murphy on SNL making fun of Michael Jackson’s “glitter glove”. Lol
I tried remembering who gave it to me; I plead Old Age and
Sicilian Alzheimer's - I only remember the Grudges!!:eek::D
Thanks again, Robb - it occupies a place of honor on my wall!!

I chatted with Bill today; all I can say is, don't write me off yet!!:D
I feel better already!!

You're indispensable Charlie....... Keep your creative juices flowing and provide the knife world with more of your Waynorth masterpieces...... I've got a dedicated credit card just for your knives.......... Oh, and "Go Bills"!.......

Arrival:cool::thumbsup: very happy, it darkens a bit as it nears the bolster:thumbsup:
