What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

A new addition came in today. This is a pleasing knife - one that I hope to carry and use with some regularity. The sawcut bone is rustically divine and the hefty steel construction is a not-so-subtle reminder that this is a knife that should be put to work. It isn't a perfect knife - there are minor imperfections (after all, it is a handmade knife) - but they are endearing and tend to embolden one to use rather than be inclined to tuck it away in a safe.

Well done, Charlie and GEC - I hope this is a sign of continued good things.

That’s the way I feel about mine as well. There are a few more imperfections than I’m used to for a GEC, but still very minor by my standards. Seeing what people are paying for these on the secondary market almost makes me think twice about using it, but those small flaws remind me that it’s meant to be used, so be used it shall.
Besides, this thing is too beautiful and nice feeling in hand to spend it’s life in a tube.

Really enjoying all the action this thread has been getting lately!! :)
Pics of mine to follow tomorrow morning.

Been a while since I carried anything in a 15 frame. Forgot how light these springs could be. Or maybe I've been carrying my 44 buffalo jack too long lol.:D What's everyone else feeling about them. Don't have anything left in a 15 frame to compare.

Mine needs a good flush, which I will be doing tomorrow. Currently, it has a good pull - around a 6, in my opinion - snap is good, though a bit muted (a flush will take care of that). My Sheepfoot TCs have lighter pulls than this one but not by a lot. Personally, I feel that the pull and action is just about right for a knife of this size - it will smooth out nicely with a good flush and some miles put on it.

Congrats Brent! This was another home run...er...touchdown by Charlie and GEC!

And while I am a Steeler fan generally, it seems I get to pick a new team to root for after the 1st round of the playoffs each year. This year it is the Bills for sure. Hoping they play GB and win!

Living where you do you'd better be a Steelers fan or you'll get your hide hung in the town square......:D

That explains why they looked so dark in the production photos. As a woodworker however it really bugs me; it looks like someone sanded against the grain with 40 grit sandpaper and applied a stain o_O
It’s creative, but I love the natural beauty of Osage and this kinda takes away from that. Just my opinion but then again I really like the gold glitter so take that for what it’s worth :p
good luck to everyone trying to get one

Describes mine to a tittle. Incredible what a good purge of the pivot can accomplish. Works wonders.

What a lovely lovely knife. Thank you Waynorth Cutlery and GEC.
