What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

I gave the exclusive Boker Olive wood another go. Sure glad that I did! The shield sits slightly uneven, but other than that, the fit and finish is really, really good. Excellent snap on the blade and boy does that Olive wood have nice figure!

Several years ago, Eric Albers @ea42 at my request, replaced the old, faded and shrunken Delrin on this Schrade (1975) Russell Barlow Commemorative Issue.
Eric just happened to have some sawcut Mammoth "laying around waiting on a project".
So no, it isn't original ... but it is one of a kind, and some of it is at least a few hundred thousand years old.
Well so there's that, and Mr Albers worked on it for me :)
