What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

I like this old un a lot its not as popular as when I post a photo of my CJ,but I like this a lot. 😇

Its easy to open without being slack, sits well in the bottom of a pocket, its not heavy and has all the cutting power you need from a knife this size.

This week I like clip blades more than spear and I adore the markings on the blade tang.

Its old and English so yes of course I love it (am I repeating myself?).

Thanks, Dwight!!!
Nice Schrade wheels!!
Thank you Charlie!

My barlow contribution today...

Probably because the knife is a boy's knife, but not a Barlow!!??
Adam Vigil Shadow Spear Barlow. Adam Vigil is out of California and the Shadow modern Spear Barlow is 3.5" closed with a 2.5” hollow ground hand-rubbed finish blade. Additional features include red G10 liners as accents and a federal shield. This knife is very pocket friendly at 2.2 ounces with the action dead on! ( this was the description for the knife waynorth waynorth , so I should call it a boys knife then? I can’t remember all the details in the differences, but I like them both!)

A Barlow has a bolster, appox. 1/3 of a knife's length, Jody. The knife looks like a good'un, but hard to call it a Barlow. A Shadow Jack maybe!! IMO pattern names are misconstrued for marketing purposes. But I am just an irascible, old traditionalist!! 😲
