What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Thanks Dwight, that vintage Case red bone has to be some of the best looking cover material ever put on a barlow. There used to be plenty of them out there in high condition but they have become harder to find and quite a bit more expensive.

Half-Barlow meets Barlow - Two recent arrivals in my mailbox - Although with a couple of minor imperfections, they are both in excellent condition. Both are destined to see pocket time.
