What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

My dream charlow would have a spearpoint blade, an easy open notch, and African Blackwood covers. :D

Sounds good to me!

I had a shot at the originals in ebony, and waffled to long. I had just dropped money on a custom knife, and was not feeling particularly cash flush to get more steel.

Since then, every time they come up, it seems like I have something else come up.

How about this one for a nice traditional barlow... On the larger side.
Just picked it up off the exchange (thanks, Invoice!).

Robeson Shuredge Grand Daddy barlow in "strawberry bone" coming in at 5 1/16" closed.
The color is a little more red than the pictures show, more like a barely-ripe strawberry. :D

Stamping on the mark side reads:
Robeson
Sdhuredge
U.S.A.

Pile side:

Cheers Duncan. I very much doubt it my friend, I think that video is a few years old, it didn't look to me like there was much going on in the old Eye Witness factory at all these days. Even a few years ago, there were only two guys (one of whom sells knives under his own name) working on the higher end slipjoints at the factory. Maybe they still go in now and again or maybe they do the work at home now.

I keep meaning to upload all the pics I took of the exterior of the factory on a previous visit, but everytime I look at them it depresses me :(

Thanks for the video, Jack. Interestng look at how "filework" can be done when you have a whole factory full of equipment.
I think I'll have a marmalade sandwich for breakfast!
