What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Ho HO, and what's this I see on GEC's production schedule?

So... What is Blackwood/Ebony? Is it Blackwood or is it Ebony? Or is it both? Or maybe they're not sure?
:)

The actual schedule is slightly different. I think we have a typo in the schedule.
I will check it out Tuesday A.M.
I am expecting the Rosewood and smooth Yellow Bone to Handle the single blade clips.

I've never seen GEC's Rosewood, or Smooth Yellow Bone, live and in person. Anyone have these handles on other knives? Comments, photos appreciated!

I hope you'll forgive me for not reading the entire thread to find my answer. How do I get one?

I've never bought a GEC knife off of the website store but when the Barlow's go up for sale, I'm guessing go to the GEC store first?

Not for Special Factory Orders. If you want one of Charlies Charlows, you should message him. They will not be on the GEC site, though other variants will be. Charlie will also ship to a number of vendors, including gunstockjack, so you will find Charlies Charlows available from several different sources, but the Charlow River starts at Rancho Campagna.

Dag-nab-it Charlie. I'm thinking I'm going to have to order one of your single, spey blade, knives to pair with my SFO Farmer Jack from Mike Latham.

I've sold off over 150 knives over the last few months trying to thin out my knife accumulation. It's not working.

The list of upcoming handle materials has been corrected on GECs website.

http://greateasterncutlery.net/blog/2011-production-schedule/

(Maybe someone smarter than I am can import the list.)

Here they are, with asterisks (as per your clarifications):

* As of this writing, the spey barlows, single and double, will be clad in either ebony or blackwood, depending on which wood is available come coverin' time.

* The yellow option above should read, Smooth Yellow Bone.

I hope I get a chance to buy one from one of the different vendors that will carry them, in case I'm not able to score one through Charlie.

Starting to get the Charlow fever again! I'm gonna have to be in for one each of the Single Clip blades, and perhaps a Spey bladed one as well. :D

Great Choice on the Smooth Yellow bone, and Che Chen Rosewood, Charlie!
