What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Almost missed your Post, Jack.
Well, I have been getting up early these days . . .

I had a Rooster once, a Bantam, who kept my laying hens safe and happy!
His success always impressed me, so I thought I'd pay him a bit of tribute.
I even put his picture on the new Spey blade - he was never afraid of anything!!
You mean that bainty wasn't yellar?
They're certainly not,it's that little guy thing.........................HelloCharlie,Jack,Sarah and everybody.

Showed my girlfriend the new pics... "How is that any different than this one?!"(pulls out my ebony eo boy's knife with sheepsfoot blade) I kinda understand where she's coming from but she is totally unwilling to see my/our side of it. I doubt anyone else on this forum has to have those conversations..........;)

It cracks me up every time I hear that alternate name for Chechen Rosewood - Black Poisonwood!
Makes me think machiavellian thoughts, picturing people like Lucrezia Borgia and Henry VIII.:D
The wood itself, doesn't look sinister, or capable of intrigue, and in fact it is quite pleasing to the eye. But then, reportedly, so was Lucrezia!:D:D

Nick, if you compare knives to shoes, and make the same statements, sometimes it helps!:D

Oh, boy! Single clip yellow bone! *droooool*

Charlie, this thing that you've started has really grown into its own monster by now. ;)

Here come the two-fers! :)

As anticipated, that che chen is a cracker all shined up-- and I'm guessing we haven't even begun to see its depths and variation.

Wow I don't know if I can choose between these two but not sure if my checkbook can afford them both! Time to sell some stuff I guess because I think I will need both. At the very least I will have one of the yellow bone version for sure.

It's a shame that the Rosewood is only available in a single clip...I really need a wooden Barlow since I gave my Walnut Sheepfoot to my brother. I'm not a big fan of the single bladed Barlows because I like knives with a tad more heft. Can't wait for the Saddle Brown Spey and Clip...I think that's the one that'll fit the bill!

The Rosewood is even better than I had hoped.
I like the grey streaks on the Blackwood; a little more character than pure Black Gabon, which I also like BTW!
The yellow speaks for itself; practically un-losable!
Hope they finish a Sawcut Bone soon. It looks a little more Brown than the earlier Red-brown.
I hope they post a full-on pic of the two-fer closed soon!

I want to see how it looks "at rest".

That banana bone is going to look great with some patina on the blade and bolsters.

I was going to pass on this run but that yella boned single clip is just killer.

glad the single clip is offered in rosewood. i don't use the secondary blades and love the single clip, and i love wood handles.

I'm with ya, cards, I need to know how much I can spend on the old lady's Xmas gift... After I get myself one of these
