What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Thanks Primble, I generally like two-blade Jacks, but decided to get the single Sheepsfoot :)

I am more likely to buy the two blade version, however, they are equally beautiful to my eye - Jack - very excellent sir!:)

Thank you Duncan for your response and it appears everyone over-looked my question of bone color for post # 4413. Anybody know?? Thanks.

I guess we all have our different tastes but I'm not crazy about the two blade, but if you put a punch in with the Sheepsfoot, I'm on board with that.:D

Primble, I agree that is Antique Yellow (if memory serves). ;) This one is a rare "Tomato" sawcut.

I love the single sheep, but a SFO with the sheepfoot and cap lifter "The Thirsty Ram" would prompt me to buy many 2 blade versions. Love all the pics guys and the education present in this thread really helps out noobs like myself.

Thank you Jeff.

Thank you too Barry. If memory serves me correctly, you have quite an affection for "Tomato reds". That Tomato saw-cut with long pull spear is a looker!

Smithhammer - Nice photo of three fine knives - I just don't think you need that red one - it looks like a mis-match sir. :D - If you ever tire of it, let me know before you "exchange" it.

Evan - Beautiful pictures of the custom TC Beerlow!:D

Rest assured, my friend - if I ever take leave of my senses and decided to let that red single blade go, you'll be the first one I'll call! :D

Well said Charlie!!! :thumbup::)

While I do like/have and admire the slightly used old knives with patina, I have always maintained that it is/was much harder and more desirable to preserve an old knife in pristine condition than to use it and/or lose it. Most all of my old Case XX's are mint.

This might be the most beautiful TC Barlow my eye has ever seen - I wonder what the handle color was called on this one - Charlie or Duncan or Anyone??

It looks like the same as mine, which is antique yellow sawcut bone.

Yes it's a beauty, but I don't keep any of mine pristine ;)

That bone has such a rich color, beautiful knife and picture, Paul. Love the background used too.:)

Here's my go to leather cutter after about 8 months of hard use. It hasn't been out of my pocket since it arrived. The yellow saw cut bone gets better and better looking. LOVE this knife.

Best regards

Robin

Why is there so little belly on so many of the barlows shown here with spearpoints? Just seems odd to me that a manufacturer would even use a spearpoint vs another blade style for a knife if the spearpoint will have almost no belly. I must be missing something.
