What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

I've got a Fish Knife with a Barlow bolster, what's that a Filow?! :D ;)

All TC Beerlow images removed as courtesy to others who think a modified (blade changed) TC Barlow does not belong here. I certainly do not wish to offend anyone here that might believe it is sac-religious or me trying to under mind Charlie's wonderful contributions to all of us.

For that - I apologize to any and all that take such offense. There is NOBODY here that appreciates the efforts of Charlie more than I do.

I suppose my Charlow enthusiasm might sometimes get me too excited and that I forget to take all things under consideration before doing something. The very reason that I had the TC blade conversion made, at considerable cost, was while I understood Charlie appreciates them, it is unlikely that he will SFO any.

The TC leather slips, which I had Barry to make for me, and he later gifted to me, have been given Charlie's blessing and he is so very kind to allow that.

I will try to remember in the future to think ahead and be more considerate of others feelings. :)

For any of you that might like to see the conversion knife, it can be seen on the Sunday Picture Show. ;):)

Thank you Primble. I'm sure that others will want to see your knife. I think Charlie has been very understanding

Back to what makes a good traditional barlow :)

Four great examples Brett

Took my Spearpoint (with Pen behind) out for a walk last weekend :)

Brilliant job on that Big Case, Duncan! It has very nice handles, both the red color, and the "soupy" configuration. You've created a treasure from a relic!
The song of Primble (echoing in an Alpine valley:)) has been heard!!
Nice collection of TCs you have there, but no Stew's blade I see!
We must remedy that!!
Sam, your Top Cat choice of Barlows is a fine one (beware the man with only one knife!;))
There are several on here that would agree that it's the top Barlow!
Nice to see you taking your Barlow out for walks, Jack B! Their care and feeding are very important!
:D

Thank you Charlie, it's certainly the whiskers in in my book! Sitting pretty over here for now....;)

Red and Co.. Including a Boker a buddy gifted me! Now to find the mythical Antique Amber. :D

Carve one? ;)

-- Beautiful array, there.

Are the blades of your Boker carbon steel, or stainless? (Mine with the same grand canyon gray bone, lovely stuff that, seems to be an anomaly in stainless.)

They're carbon on the Boker. With brass liners. It's pretty sweet.

:D

Not sure if you were referring to me Charlie... but I actually used two Stew Blades in a history lesson today for my nephews. :)

I picked up this Camillus #50 at our local flea market yesterday. Long pull, spear main, sawcut bone; it has the trinity going for it!
