What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Thank You Sam for the comment on the Red Bone

Primble Sir - well, I must admit I cannot do the knife thing as good as you my friend, you do a splendid job Sir! As for sending me e-mails about my TC's my friend, it is I who has a photo of YOUR collection that do contain knives that are in my opinion rightly mine!:D

Paul my friend - thank you for your kind words on that Red Bone - Case got it right didnt they!!!!
I think we need to see a HONEST group shot of Pauls TC's, I have a sneaky suspicion that Paul only takes photos of half of his Herd of knives, then he sits rubbing his hands together chuckling with a deep chuckle that borders on the sound of insane greed :D:D

Charlie my friend, thank you Sir- I was happy the way the ol' girl came out, I do know that you dont like touching the old knives, I am glad the way it came out - as the way it was - it just did not suit sitting in with the rest of my Red Bones - now it kinda does - even though the others do not have Patina!!
As for the lack of the Stew's Blade - ashamedly you are correct - although I will get one, I do have a VERY special one arm Razor coming over from the States, it may have been a mistake getting it sent to Pauls house - I have grave concerns I may never see that knife :D

They're carbon on the Boker. With brass liners. It's pretty sweet.

Those Boker Barlows do look sweet :)

Not sure if you were referring to me Charlie... but I actually used two Stew Blades in a history lesson today for my nephews. :)

I keep chuckling about that history lesson Brettt, I bet the boys loved it! :) Great work my friend

Nice find Dan

Nice Camillus, Dan!

Brett, I was referring to Duncan's collection! I am glad to hear Stew's Blade might enhance the understanding of history, for young minds!
(I received your package, and will post about it soon!)

Nice Camillus, Dan!

Thank you, Charlie!

I'm not sure how traditional it is, per se, but this guy was in my mailbox today.

I'm not 100% thrilled with the color of the bone, but the fit and finish is very nice!

I told a friend a while ago that I would start posting some pics in this thread. So I suppose I'd better get started. Now these are not Primble quality photos that we all are getting use to.(It's funny how quickly our standards rise) But then again I'm out in the middle of the Ft. Berthold Indian reservation, set up on the bed of my flatbed pickup truck!( It's also funny what lengths we will go to to feed our addiction...er hobby!);) So much for excuses!!
Might as well start at the beginning. With the Harness Maker Barlows,

Man ya just gotta love this set of knives, the excitement of a new release, and going straight for the knock out punch as far as Traditional goes. Spear main, long pull, super saw cut bone color choices. All these babies are right in my wheel-house! So lets get to it....Oh ya, there are 6 knives in this release! Tang stamp #'s are visible on pile shots. Now we can get to it!:D
The Antique Amber Saw Cut bone

The 2 Blade Antique Yellow Saw Cut bone

The 2 Blade Copperhead Saw Cut Bone, 1 of only 5 made

That's enough pic for 1 post.

Dave

PS Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong with these damn photos? I have rotated & resized them before I loaded them into photobucket. They show correctly saved on my puter and in photobucket. What's the deal? I can't keep up with the Primbles this way! :D
PPS Thank You to whoever fixed my post and Thank You Mr Primble for teaching me how to run Photobucket!

Hi Dave - you have me drooling over your knives and nice pictures too!!:eek::D

In Photobucket - go up to the top right corner where the icon of a head and neck resides and click on your user settings, then go to the Albums tab and uncheck automatically rotate images on upload, then go to customize upload options and pick the recomended upload size. That should help you breeze past them "Primbles" quite nicely. ;):D

After all, I already know you have enough Charlows to keep us busy for a while. Charlie spilled the beans on you mate! :D:D

Looking forward to the picture show - should we buy popcorn? :D

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!!! I've heard stories round the campfire of knowtracks legendary TC Barlow collection....and now pictures to boot?

I'm with Primble Dave, can we get more pictures now huh can we:D
Two stunners right off the bat;)

Man you guys are waaay ahead of me... I didn't know it was so obvious that I spend to much $ on knives that I have to drive an old truck!
Well she is old, an`88 Ford, not really a classic, but a great work truck! I'll get a pic up after this next couple of sets of knives.

Dave

To finish out the "Harness Maker" Barlows. Might as well stay with the Saw Cut bone...
Single Blade Copperhead

I remember talk about the "wood grain" and this example sure has it but I wasn't real successful at capturing it.

On to the EBONY!!
The Single Blade...with stripes!

The 2 Blade Ebony....Jet Black!

And of course The Closing Statement

Up next the Apple Cider Gang! :D

Dave
