What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Went to Renn Fest today and got a cool box. Stuffed it with some goodies.

Evan, Just WOW! Great Shots!! Your sneakin up on Primble.
I love the drift wood pics Duncan! And the bee story is very kool!!
Willydigger I just don't know man! That is a pretty wild box! You sure have your own style and I say RUN WITH IT!!
Sara you have a discriminating palate, a beautiful combination of users and pristine!
And I see the latest talk is about the up coming Sheepfoot release... with is fortuitous because tomorrow I will post the next in line after the Clips in 2013 which is the "Orchardist Bucket"
I been on the road all day and just can't stay awake much longer!

But before I go... I think this is what Charlie had in mind when he asked for a pic of the pick up. :D

A couple pieces of buckskin for a back ground and an overcast day. It my be primitive but is all I got for now.

Primitive is good Dave - looking forward to the next installment.

Pertinux - Beautiful TC's in beautiful pictures!!:)

Evan - More beautiful TC's in beautiful pictures - but - you are sandbagging a bit, my friend.:D

Fred - I like what is in the box - most people would be afraid to steal that box.:D

Nice collection Sarah, love that yellow Days Works:thumbup:

Thanks, Paul. I do, too! It sorta overwhelms the others in pictures (it often even looks bigger than the others, due to its brightness), but I wanted that effect in real life-- a standout-- and am really glad to have it.

Pertinux just an amazing collection!

Thanks! I sure enjoy looking at them all together again myself and (re)appreciating my current sweet spot, especially in light of some recent (happy) departures.

I sometimes regret not giving each of the knives a healthy workout (if a knife's in my pocket, it will get used), other times am grateful that some are still unsullied.

Fun decisions and contemplations. :)

Thank you! My camera lens seems to have a fatal scratch(? - blemish?) in its anti-glare coating, leaving me with my iPhone only for some time now (and much less control, etc., even as compared to my simple but reliable point-and-shoot, in really simple ways-- I knew how to keep it out of reflections in a way that challenges me and becomes cumbersome with the iPhone).

I'm guardedly pleased with how my current pictures are turning out, but missing my camera. I appreciate your compliment.

The next release after the long pull Clip blades was the Sheepsfoot! A very useful blade in my opinion, in a stock knife it would be a toss up between the main clip and the sheepsfoot as to who get the most use. As Charlie points out, much easier to sharpen and for me better control when cutting to a certain depth or all the way thru.
There are 9 knives in this release, both a single and a 2 blade version in each of the following handle material, Blackwood, Smooth Ivory Bone, Gunstock Walnut and Antique Yellow Saw Cut bone. Tang stamp #153113 on the single blade and #153213 on the 2 blade. With a single blade Saw Cut Soup bone added, all have long pulls and I do believe half stops. (But I'm not positive on the half stops, I don't have 1 with me presently)
The bucket on the front label say's "Orchardist" there is a Ram's head with Real Sheepsfoot and a couple of ewes added.

The single blades 1st...
Blackwood...

Gunstock Walnut...

Smooth Ivory bone...

Antique Yellow Saw Cut bone...

Saw Cut Soup bone, mark ...

Pile...

The 2 Blades on the next post. :D

Those knives are sweet Knowtracks, they give me hope that I might find a single blade sheepsfoot myself!

Looking to buy single blade sheepsfoot barlow

Sarah - what a beautiful collection of TC's... just fantastic!!! Again, a nice careful selection of stunners!

Dave - Wow - I cant believe you have all these beauties!! - its great to see them - thank you so much for sharing!

Gunstock Walnut…

I miss my Walnut Sheepsfoot…the first one that I owned, I gifted to my brother because he helped me swap out the 16 spark plugs on my truck, and if you guys saw what that knife looks like right now, it would make you cringe
