What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Always appreciated guys - thank you for the Boker Comments.

I thought I might show my cherry wood Charlow storage box - ten of my favorites are in this box. :)

I apologise folks, .... I seem to be putting up older shots, and I still to this day cannot stop thinking about my lovely Ebony that I lost, I took this knife with me when I met Jack in the UK, it went around Scotland, It wasnt with me the day we spent an incredible hour and a half with Stan Shaw - but Stan held this very same Red Bone Clip of Charlies...and we have a photo of him doing so -just great - so this photo means a lot to me....

.................. and here is the knife that Paul actually dug in a gave to me on the news that the single blade was gone for good - THIS is what makes Traditional folk here probably some of the more important that I hold close to me......

Duncan - that red bone clip is a wonderful knife - I am betting Paul's determination was tested when he put that ebony knife in the shipping box. :o:grumpy::grumpy::)

Thank you for the comment on the wooden Charlow box - it is a "table top" box and the knives are just laying in the box - so easy to open the lid and grab one out. ;)

As always - thank you, my friends. :)

Great stuff :)

I took this pic outside Stan's workshop the week before you visited Duncan. It's the same model, two-blade Spearpoint Charlow in ebony, with the pen behind the main, sent to me by Charlie :)

Wow...Thank you for that Jack, I bet Charlie would have been chuffed to see Stan holding one of his knives!!!
Thank you for popsting those flicks - great to see you Ebony on Stans Door there too my friend!

Actually I never took too closer notice - but that picture looks to be a etch of a younger Stan on that wood - do you think?

Primble Sir - what a fantastic Table top box - that is simply awesome - like the others have said, the Blue looks very "regal" - very smart!

You're welcome Duncan, they took a bit of digging out, particularly as I had never actually posted the second pic. Yes, Charlie would have fitted in well I think my friend, maybe one day :)

The plaque was made for Stan by a poster on another forum, I think Wellington and Smiling Knife will know him.

Chuffed* is the word, Duncan!!
You are looking pretty chuffed yourself!!
It is an honor to have one of my productions anywhere near the great Stan Shaw!!:o
Thank for posting the pics Jack!:)

Thanks for posting the pics Jack!:)

You're more than welcome Charlie. The pic of Stan and Duncan, and Duncan's fine Charlow, was taken by Duncam good lady wife, Sue. The second pic was taken by me on a visit to the museum when Stan was away on holiday.

'Chuffed' - Very pleased
'Chuff' - Somewhat old-fashioned term of abuse
'Chuffin' 'eck' - Slightly inpolite exclamation
'Chuffin Ells' - Group of 1980's women singers

Confusing isn't it?! ;) :D

There are enough "Chuffs" to power a steam engine!

it was great
thanks!

Charlie I am glad you are Chuffed ( in a good way) - both Jack and I were- I was a bit crook that day- but what a day!!

When you stop and look back at the very special parts of your life- I can say that day is definitely one of those - most definitely. Thanking Jack doesn't seem enough- and Charlie you were a special mention in both Jack and my conversation with that lovely man- ( at the risk of sounding silly ).

Absolutely Duncan :)

Charlie, you were definitely along with us that day! :D

Duncan, in that pic Jack posted of you and Stan, I must say you look like Liam Neeson--not a bad lookalike to have.

Cool stuff gentlemen!!!

Stan Shaw!!! How cool is THAT??? You just never know what your gonna find when open up the Traditional Forum!
Please excuse me, it has been awhile since my last post. I didn't mean to string this out for such a long time but life just keeps getting in the way! Don't these people know we have important business to discuss here?
Anyway work has sent me back to purgatory but not the same exact location. (Probably to many bodies laying around that location!);) And here I have (so far) an internet connection!! :D SO let's get back to it!
After the Sheepfoot was the Spey blade and 3 Clip blades variants added for good measure. The Spey's came in 4 handle variations, African Blackwood, Smooth Yellow bone, Saw Cut Saddle Brown bone and Saw Cut Soup bone. All 4 variations came in both single and 2 blade versions. The 2 blade's have a Clip and a Spey, so you actually get 2 main blades! The Spey blades have the "Day's Work" etch.(fine job Barry!) All blades have 1/2 stops, as a matter of fact I went back and checked and so far all the Charlow's blades have 1/2 stops thru this release.
Here is the front of the tube, she sports the "Day's Work" banner, a rooster crowing and a couple of pullets add to make sure nobody is left out! :D
The bucket states "C. Campagna Speying & Chicken Feed"

The Single blades...
Saw Cut Soup bone... tang stamp #'s visible on both Soup bone knives, pile side.

pile...

African Blackwood...

Smooooth Yellow bone...

Saddle Brown Saw Cut bone...

Next post...2 blades!
