What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Here are the 3 Clip blade versions that were released with the Spey's. All have a single blade, standard nail nick and 1/2 stops. Once again tang stamp # visible on Soup bone, pile
Handle variations are Saw Cut Soup bone, Smooth Yellow bone and Che Chen Rosewood.
The Che Chen Rosewood tube has a different front label than the other 2. The back labels are all the same. The bucket reads "C. Campagna Apple Cider Vinegar" And Tom's & Huck's position in life have changed!! I'm not sure why, perhaps SOMEONE will enlighten us! ;)
Here is the front of said tube...

The Che Chen Rosewood...

The Soup bone and the Smooth Yellow bone front label has the boys back in their original positions. The bucket is the old "Canada White Washer" variant...

The Extra, Extra Smooooth Yellow bone...

The Saw Cut Soup bone, mark...

pile...

And the last pic for tonight.... the back label....

A good nite to ALL! :D

Thank you for the new picture show and all of the release info - fantastic stuff my friend.:thumbup::D

I sneaked out of that Purgatory place - I am OK Dave. :p

Oh Dave- again a show with the best Stars. Thanks so much for taking the time - and it does take a lot of time- to show us your gorgeous knives.
Just amazing to see someone else other than Charlie who has such a vast range of CC SFO's:thumbup:

If that soup-bone were mine, my pocket would be gaining constant nourishment.....:D:thumbup:

Could there BE a better example??

Impressed, Will

I just picked up this Case tested XX for a user, I love the bone.

Have a great day folks.

Best regards

Robin

I liked the soup a lot, as well, but, the Che Chen Rosewood is the one I wanted for my dessert - now licking chops. :D

Very nice pick up there Robin.:)

I wonder if soup bone will make another return to the charlows, it seems to be a VERY sought after and cherished cover material.

A sheepsfoot with soup bone would be lovely :)

Ok, lets get back to it here... The next release I do believe was the return to the Spear! And it had our Canadian White Washer dancing the jig!!
There are 8 knives in this release, 3 of the cover materials came in both a single and a 2 blade version. They are the Chestnut jigged bone, Blood Red jigged bone and the Gabon Ebony. Tang stamp # for the 2 blade is 152214. There is also a Gunstock Walnut and a 3rd cut Stag. All blades has a standard nail nick and half stops. And I'm not sure if God intended the secondary blade to be in FRONT of the main (where it belongs) or not, but at least the Master Cutler did! :D
Now I don't remember if in the book it was Tom or Huck that was doing the white washing but whoever it is has gained a plaid vest! Must be getting on towards fall. ;)
The bucket states, C. Campagna Shoe Polish...

Here are the 2 blade versions, The Blood Red Jigged bone...

The Gabon Ebony...

The Chestnut Jigged bone...

And the back label, "Dancing the Jig"....

The singles next!

Thanks for updating the saga Dave, from what I remember of the book NEITHER Tom nor Huck did a whole lot of whitewashing! :D

Jack

There are 5 single blade knives, once again the 2 jigged bones, ebony, walnut and 3rd cut stag. Tang stamp # visible on 3rd Cut, pile.
The 3rd cut stag has it's own unique tube. Both the front and back labels are different from the rest. On the front the bucket states "C. Campagna Recycling" and there is a Sambar Stag picture on it. Also the plaid vest remains!

Here is said 3rd Cut Stag, mark...

The pile...

And the back label...

The other 4 knives have the same labels as the 2 blade versions, they are
Blood Red jigged bone...

Gabon Ebony...

Chestnut jigged bone...

And to round out this release, The American Gunstock Walnut...

That is your installment for today sports fans! :D For duty calls and I still have some work to do.
Up next???? STEW'S BLADE :cool::cool::cool:

Nice presentation, Dave!

Reminds me of all the fun I had, especially writing the back labels!!

Sue at GEC did some nice work on the label minutiae, and Pertinux kept me on the grammatical, and at times ethical, straight and narrow!!

And of course the knives are nice too!

Thanks to all my Barlow friends out there, I haven't had this much fun since I raced motorcycles!

The soup bone with sheep foot already happened, if I remember correctly.:) I still wish for one in that configuration. ;)

Dave - thank you - once again - for stirring my emotions - looking forward to the next installment.:thumbup::D
