What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

@ Primble, I am amazed @ the slight but noticeably improved appearance of your "PRIMBLE" Barlow.

Your photography skills improve a great ole knife and gives the viewer the experience of what it's like to see that gorgeous red sawcut bone in person:thumbup:

Thank you Paul - it is a little different from the picture as I carried it all day, when I wasn't working on it. I rubbed it down until the few bad spots were gone and stopped and took the pictures. It now has a very very nice forced vinegar patina. It was dark outside by the time the rub down of the vinegar treatment was finished. I will post more pics tomorrow if the forecast is wrong and the rain lets up.

I really like that knife !!! Thank you again.:thumbup::)

I think saw-cut bone also makes a nice Barlow. ;):)
Uh - Huh. It suuuuuuuure does my friend.

Nice trio Paul. That yellow clip is me Grail TC! Congrats you lucky duck!
Same here. I had my cursor on the button to buy one when they came out and hesitated too long (if I remember correctly they were available longer than the most recent run). I have to admit I'm not able to go the schmebay route, but I'm always hoping one will come up here and I'll be lucky enough to see it first.

I think it just has a great simplicity, with the single clip and plain yellow.

Looking forward to seeing the next photos of this knife Primble. Great job

The Fulton and Kwik Kut were likely both made by Camillus: the former for Montgomery Wards (according to Levine's Guide), the latter for Sears.

Hibbard - according to Goins', Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett "carried a second, cheaper line of knives marked "Hibbard"." My comment: second to and cheaper than their OVB brand, but this knife is very-well made.

Thanks Al!!! Very nice collection, and pics!!
I agree, the Bolster stamps are the key appeal to an otherwise good knife!!
The stamps make them great!!

I finished the blade work and forced a patina back on the Primble Barlow:

It looks really nice in person (and still looks old) and the gloomy weather today did not make for good photos. :)

@ Fred, always enjoy seeing your rust red bone Clip as well as your great bead work:thumbup:
