What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

W:eek:W! Holy cow! That is the nicest Russell straight line Barlow that I have ever seen.

Thank you Mark and I am very happy to find such a nice Russell, after passing on the well used ones for so many years. :)

Primble, that's a knockout for sure! I have one Russell-made barlow (actually it's an all metal Barlow/Boy's knife).

Very cool little knife Dan or it looks a little small in your hand.? I saw one of those for sale the other day and yours is in much better condition.:thumbup::)

What is the closed length, by the way?

Thanks, Primble.

I'll have to measure when I get home, but I'd guess somewhere around the 2.75" mark. I bought that from a seller at a show who had somehow found an entire box of those, never used.

Another Holy Cow from me, Primble!!! What a difference a week makes. That Russel is just exceptional!!!!!!!!!!Skip a beat...no...my heart stopped for a second.

WOW - they are really neat knives and I really need to start going to shows again. :o:)

Haha - I was wondering where you was Gevo. I know your heart ticks very similar to mine when an old knife is at stake. I think mine did stop for a second or two and it was so good that I set out trying to see if I could find something about it that did not look right. I had my magnifying glass out, my best flashlight, and my very best close-up spectacles on. :o:D

It is in my watch pocket right now and might stay there for a while. ;) I am still fond of my new old Primble Barlow and I may split time between them. :)

Until now - every time I would find an old Russell Barlow with nice handles, the blades looked like worn out double harness jacks. :D

I am so glad I got my name on that list. I cannot tell from the picture but is the bone sawcut?

Woo-eee!! I've got a good feeling about these knives!

Superb job Charlie, another hit for Team Campagna-GEC! ;)

They are looking good Charlie, you may have cracked the code after all this time Case have been keeping it secret - as well as not being able to use chemicals that nuke the workers so much these days

Looking really good- it is real exciting stuff there

They're so good!!! Might be my favorite iteration yet, wish I was on the list but congrats to those who are, looks like you're all in for a real treat with these beauties!

Wow! That could be my favorite version yet. I am going to be so very jealous of the ones that will be shown. So perfectly beautiful.

Edit; definitely my favorite version yet.
