What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

~P stands for "first with the Pics"!!:D

The two blade looks great. Thanks Sarah - as usual.:)
I hope they post a two-blade in the closed position. I'd like to see how the pulls line up!

I thought I would only like the 2 blade versions from the first run but I found that I love the single blade versions just as much! Which means one of each blade and color configuration....*sigh*...Losing weight will be easy this next month!

You guys are in for a treat. I have a knife whose blade is a dead ringer for that clip point.

That broad blade should last at least a couple of lifetimes.

What knife is that, Christian? I cannot read the tang . . ..

How about a guess, Charlie. Queen/Dan Burke cattle knife.

A good guess, but no. It's the Queen/Dan Burke Rancher. IIRC it was released in 2006 or so. I suspect the same person was responsible for designing both blades.

The cattle knife was a three blade affair. Think cattleman, with a clip point main instead of a spear. The Rancher is a single and shares the cattle knife's clip point blade. The cattle knife also had carved bone covers, the Rancher used stag.

Jason, I was hoping that GEC wouldn't make any 15 jack knife versions of these new barlows, because I really can't afford any more at the moment, I'm already getting two of the new barlows.

I can't even lie and say that I wouldn't get one. That Remington is outstanding.

Guys I have a question. I really really don't want to miss out on the new #15 barlows GEC is making right now. Back on their page it gives contact information, but I don't know what SFO stand for. Do I need to contact that person to buy one, or where can I get one? Please pm me, I'd greatly appreciate it.:)

SFO stands for Special Factory Order, and your in luck "that person" is Charlie AKA Waynorth who has been posting in this thread. Send him an email and I am sure he can fill you in on how to pick one of these up when the time comes.

Any word on the Antique Tan? Is that the same tan as in the first batch? Decisions, decisions, decisions.
