I am 100% certain it is the first Sheep! Guaranteed!*

*Might be the Spey. :D

Pay attention Gary!!!!! :D Sheesh, being a teacher, I'd expect you to be ready for pop quizzes all the time. :D

Whah? Huh?:confused: Oh, sorry; my brain is a little fuzzy between my afternoon nap and bedtime.

No Al, you're the one on fire,,,,and I am merely chasing your flames! Or smoke or uhh, something.

LOL, uh... It's my bank account that's going up into flames...haha! But what the hell. I figure, trading some green and white paper with funny looking white guys on them for wood, bone and steel makes good sense, don't it? :D:D

Good, traditional Barlows seem to inspire generosity. A neighbor on the other side of the mountain noticed me getting hyped up about this knife on another thread.

I had a rough morning yesterday, and went to the cardiologist convinced I had only weeks to live. (His message: Everything is stable. Now, lose weight and exercise, Stupid.) My anxiety melted away when I saw the knife that had just been delivered.

This very generous gift from our friend GBPacker is yet another example of the exceptional art and craft of Great Eastern Cutlery. The Blackwood is actually a lovely chocolate brown (the color of my hair about 20 years ago). And the handle covers are sanded on the outside so that it is thinner and has no sharp edges. I think that is called "radiused" if I remember correctly. It disappears into the pocket, despite the sheepfoot blade sitting high in the handle. (No proud tips here, just an appropriately high riding sheepfoot blade.) The pull on the blade is a 7 out of 10, but can easily be pinched open. That long pull, though!

This one went straight into my pocket today.

So what makes a good, traditional Barlow? Thoughtful friends, good neighbors, and a tight community makes a Barlow great in my book!

Markesharp, I just spotted this a few minutes ago, WELL DONE!!!:thumbup:

I thought it was so good I showed it to my wife. She said, "Ooooo, I like it! How'd he do it? I especially like the fish." (Pointing to the bolster) Please take this as high praise. Not a knife person, her reaction to your work was more exuberant than anything I've heard from her regarding a knife.

Once again, WELL DONE!!!

Great photos Perry. That belt buckle is especially cool! The leather slip is really nice too. Is that Barry's handywork?

Wow, that's great that he gave you that #77, Scott! What a nice gift and he's obviously paying close attention to your collecting craze. Thank you Al and Bob! Just had some time to snap a few more. The belt buckle was mine in HS. I was doing rodeo back then for one year. Btw, rodeo bronc riding is a very stupid thing to do when you're nearly 6 ft 2!

Sorry Al, yes, Barry does some of the nicest leather I've ever seen. Reminds me of some of my cowboy belts from back in the 1970s.
