What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

I wish I had your talents Mark. I'd be in the shop all the time and it would give me a reason for early retirement.

Thanks Bob.

:eek::eek: The fish is alive !!!

It turned out fantastic Marko !!! The bolster stamp and bone (fish soup ???) are wonderful !!!:thumbup::thumbup::)

Thank you Roberto!

Fantastic Fish Barlow, Mark!!
Tell us more about the handles please!?!

Charlie, the handles are bone that I carved and dyed. I have a couple different prototypes that I have worked on and have a couple more to finish up. Thank you.

I know from little about knives, TBH, and even less about making them. But I know I'd be proud to have made that piece and to carry it! Congratulations!

Thanks MW.

Nicely done, Mark!!

Pretty darn satisfying, ain't it?

Thanks Evan and yes, very satisfying. :)

Mark, I keep coming back to the photos of your new Barlow. You should be very proud. Awesome knife!

Thank you Dr. Scott, I appreciate your enthusiasm.

Great work Mark! Very unique in design and look.

Thank you Perry!

Perry, it's a 2014 run of Gabon Ebony. I never had much to a TC collection, so I'm trying to pick up one or two here and there of ones that I never grabbed the first time around.

I'm not Rob, but there's one piece of info I know for sure: the new one is NOT the 4th from the right. That's the only one of your Charlows that ever registers in my brain; the others are essentially invisible to me! I don't know WHY that happens, only that it DOES happen every time you do a group shot of your collection!

Beautiful, Mark! I haven't had that big a grin or that happy a laugh for a long time! It turned out great. Your Barlow is cool, unique, and funny! It would be the perfect gift for your hipster nephew in Portland who wants a Barlow because it's retro. That's going to be a sought-after Barlow! :D

I live in Portland and could sometimes be considered a quasi-hipster and that would be the perfect knife for this city! Sign me up! True work of art Mark.

Chechen rosewood, second from left :)
Hot. :D
Ok Will, I'm gonna guess the Walnut, fourth from the left.
Perry
Cold. That's Bolivian Rosewood. :D

Well I sucked at that game! Shows what little I know about all the handles.
Anyway, here's my newest one, 2014 blood red jig.
