What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

10,000th reply Charlie.
I've always been intimidated by all the TC fellows in here/the only barlow I have currently until the emerald green pick bone comes in..and then the collection starts again.

No need for you to feel this way, Tim. We are all knife friends in here and throughout the porch as well!:)

Very true Perry, learned more here than I ever would have imagined when I joined up for bladeforums a long while ago.

Stag and D2 blades on a solid frame does it for me!

I think these look awesome. Would love to snag one.

So, I just paid for my TC New Day Spey/Pen in African Blackwood. Don't think I could be much more excited. [emoji16]

Nice old barlow, Brumby!:thumbup: Is that an Imperial? Or a Colonial?
I picked this up at the local gun and knife show yesterday. It's a carbon steel Imperial barlow, and reminds me of yours, but with a clip main and different script on the bolster.

Love those spear TC's! I feel good about snagging a TC on this run. Until then, my 77 is my lone Barlow:

You have picked up a very nice clean looking example there too 5K Q Mine is a Colonial or at least it is stamped "Colonial" I'm guessing most of them came out of the same factory (?)

Thanks for the follow-up, sir! Mine already is less clean looking than when I took the photos Saturday. I wasn't sure about the blade steel, so I used the clip blade to cut up an apple and some grapes for Sunday breakfast. A "rainbow patina" formed almost immediately, so stainless it isn't!

Looks like I'm the first one to post up the new TC's! :) This is a horrible picture as it was taken on my desk with poor lighting but I'll try to get outside at some point today and get some better pictures with natural lighting. Perfect fit and finish on both of these.

Great Jake! I see you went with the singles. Me too!

The only 2 bladed TC I own is my Dead Skunk & well I didn't have a choice with that one lol. I prefer a single bladed or single spring knife because I like them to be nice and thin an disappear in my pocket. :) The green bone looks really good but you can't tell that by my bad picture of it! I think the blackwood might be my favorite though. Looks very classy.

I only have one Evergreen single coming in, probably later this week. Glad to hear the green is stronger than in your picture!

I like the single bladed ones also for the same reason. I'm waiting for my green bone and blackwood, (im)patiently.

The photo is good and congratulations on being first up!
