What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

That bareheaded boys knife in jigged red bone should be fantastic! But it won't look like that old Remington I've seen pics of. Still wonderful though!

Pistonandgears that's the one I was thinking of. Love 'em all though. Dave, that reminds me of my spear point ebony Boy's Knife.

And now, my beautifull triplet !!!!

Fantastic! Your newest addition is my favorite yet.

Meanwhile, Yoo Hoo, Charlie? The foxes are on the loose around here, all sorts of shenanigans.

Hopefully the new barlows are winging their way hither and yon? O, please. :)

I don't know if he was there this past December, but in 2011, I was enthralled by Ray's table full of barlows at the Chesapeake Knife Show. Looked great, and in my price range. Unfortunately, I didn't get any. Buying just one would've blown my whole show budget!

The first batch of several shipments went out today!! About 100 knives, (and I am going to take a nap soon!) and I even managed to CE and CF a few.
I do not go through them nor do any selecting - that is not fair - but I must at least see what they are by looking at a few! And I keep an archive of one of each.
The Ebony seems to vary from pure coal black, to very black with a little grey streaking. The antique amber is less green than the first pic we saw here, but it is beautiful!!
I can't wait to see what everyone posts!

Sounds great, Charlie! Thanks for the update. Boiling will have to wait until after naps, the dust settles, etc., I take it? ;)

Thanks, too, for these first reports of early glimpses. This is getting good, all over again. :)

At a full 5" when closed, the S&M "Big Daddy" (can I type that without being censored? :D) is a beast of a slip.

But I'm a sucker for red bone scales, and this behemoth has it in spades; enough to cover several of my "normal" size folders:
