What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

In which the "what" transitions to "who," once again:

Charlie, Bill Howard, and the good people at GEC have done it again.

Wowzer.

More to come, once the light changes. :)

I just got my ebony single clip from Mike, still waiting on an antique amber from Charlie (couldn't play favorites!).

To my astonished pleasure, the backspring sits flush in all three positions, the ebony is pure black, blade centered, bevels even, shaving sharp, pull a 6 right out of the tube. The only thing less than perfect (literally!) is a very tiny 3-4 mm long sliver of light visible between the mark side liner and the spring right under the TC logo. Without holding it up to a very strong light and turning it just so, you would never notice it. This is as close to custom quality as any sane man (or woman) could ever expect in a production slipjoint.

Three cheers for Charlie and Great Eastern!!

Pics to follow. I was too excited to wait until they were done, I just had to post.

Jeff, I too find all that you have with the Ebony single, but in the spear, this knife is incredible, and I await with a greedy expectation that my lust for these knives will be satisfied lol..well just for a few days until Charlie strikes another SFO.
Bring on those photos Jeff!

Roll 'em!

Full open. Beautiful, black, tight-grained covers, terrific swedges and bevels, flush pins . . . gorgeous!

Flush at half-stop. At least I can't feel it when I run my thumb over it.

GEC have also all but done away with the under-blading problem they used to have with some knives.
When open, the blade spine is about 1/100 of an inch under the backspring. Not perfect, but darn close.

I missed the Spear but am so very happy with the Clip. Gorgeous knives posted prior to this but I have to say I absolutely love the Rust Red covers, the f&f is spot on. Happy, happy happy!!!

Thank you Charlie and all involved for this great Barlow.

Received my two blade rust red in the mail today...very pleased.

Now to put an edge on it and see if if can kick the rust red two blade spearpoint jack out of my pocket.

Wow, these are all really great looking! That rust red is very nice, and I can't believe how nice the gabon ebony looks! I'm still awaiting my set to arrive :D

For some reason I feel more compelled by the single blade clips than the double bladed ones, which is funny because I feel the opposite way about the spearpoint versions.

Great shots of great knives guys!....I only have one complaint

How come you fella's are allowed to tease me, while I am waiting for mine!!!!

Wow, nice pictures folks!!
You just can't do this stuff on an ancient scanner. Real nice everyone!!

Shipped out another 125 knives yesterday, but I have two more shipping marathons to go!
Had to work today, so no Post Office visit.
Please be patient . . . . .

My ebony single and two blade arrived today. It was a nice surprise, thanks Charlie. Since i missed the spears these are a real treat. Again thank you Charlie, I'm quite happy. The ebony looks nice and dark on both. Pics tomorrow in the daylight!

The various bone pics look really nice. Might have to grab one of those in the future when my wallet rebounds. That is if there are any left!
