What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Thanks Charlie and Jack, it's hard to believe how much snap that knife has for how old it is, like a bear trap.

Ancient with an ancient, just picked up this MF&S, still a very tight, usable Barlow.

Augie - No doubt my friend, you are a Barlow Magnet!!;):D:thumbup:

My clip and pen Charlow in antique yellow bone has started its journey to the Oklahoma Hills as of this morning.

There's a better than fair chance it may go on some moonlit walks with me, following the music of the Bluetick hounds this fall and winter.

By the time the Dog woods bloom in spring it will have whittle a few walking sticks and undressed a few old ridgerunner coons.

I have been carrying the Charlow a good bit in the past couple of years since I made this post.

It has become one of my favorite carry knives.

It has indeed whittled a few walking sticks and accompanied me on many a chase after the masked bandit, and is now a trusted friend.

It has acquired a nice patina and is a joy to use.

Thanks, Mr. Charlie.

Man, Willydigger, I just can't stop staring at that rust red, always enjoy your pics!!!
I finally got my hands on my first TC, and into the pocket it went.
I just love the depth and brilliance of the red soup bone.
A few apples later, and I am already thinking of my what my next one will be..

Congrats on your TC Barlow! The two I have are among my absolute favorite and most cherished knives - a long-pull single spear in ebony and a single spey in Afr Blkwd. They're among the finest Barlows ever produced I dare say.

Has GEC ever used the scratted bone on anything other than the most recent ancient barlow? I really like the look, but not so much a fan of the ancient blade.

I believe no, this was a completely new and special project with the scale left on the blade and bolsters for Charlie himself to emulate and mirror the barlows of past. Could get it rebladed by a modder though I imagine~
