really like this run of ancients. i tried some sanding on the handles of my scrattered one...
I agree wth the other comments regarding the sanded surface. It is amazing how it now so closely resembles the much older Barlow knives. Certainly an interesting discovery.

hey there, question, is that patina on the bolster?
That's how the bolsters on the Ancients were finished
I believe it is a good argument for using the heckamus out of these new scratted Ancients, bequeathing them to others who will do the same, and peeking in on them a hundred years or so down the road to evaluate the outcome.
