What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

It looks like you are regularly eating your fruit and vegetables, Burnside!!
Nice to see a two-blade being used and enjoyed. That bone color is tops!! Or at least near the top!!

Carrying these two today

OH Baby!, I love that Barlow Paul, I personally think Kutmaster rock, everyone of my knives from them is a beaut! and this example is certainly an outstanding example!...simply beautiful!!
Whats the size of that lovely thing?

Thank you Duncan, it measure 3 3/8' closed. I've always felt the KUTMASTER was a little on the rough side when it came to F&F but this one is pretty darn good

Here are some photos of the patina on my 2 blade charlow...

Love the patina burnside, My 2 blade Clip has only been exposed to slicing buns for sandwiches---fruits and vegetables are certainly in it's future as I have a hard time not carrying it ;)

We must have a common ancestor, Paul!
I carry two Barlows frequently!

I carry two Barlows frequently!

In addition to harness jacks, cattlemen, and the odd wharcliffe trapper or two. :D

I have a feeling Charlie carries a knife in each of his pockets. That's what they are there for right? ;)

Actually, I was drinking a few Coronas one night and then became frivolous with the limes and lemons on hand. I didn't expect it to get so dark in such a little amount of time from cutting up a lime and a lemon! I love the antique yellow bone color as well. You can also see in one of the photos where there is a tiny chip at the butt of the handle which I think adds some character by showing that it is a user and not a "shelf-queen".

Gabon Spearpoint? I'm in. Please sign me up for the lottery or whatever you end up doing, Charlie. These knives are my favorite, and I usually carry two on me at a time as well. :)

Utopia!
A chicken in every pot, a Barlow in every pocket!!:D:D

Hey Paul, does that Robeson have sunk joints??

Paul, that Kutmaster is a beauty! I also love the bolsters and that bone.....
Thanks for sharing that little darlin!

Yeessss.
My Charlow Campagnarlow turned up.
Superb.
I especially like the message on the tube. Its easy to see that this project comes from the heart.
The photos have had me slavering like a starving Wolverine. Now for the minute I am replete with quality knifeyness.
PS I've got one more in the post -gotta be tomorrow .
Cheers

:D The perfect vest!! Gotta git me one!!

How many pockets?? Better to NOT go swimming when fully loaded!!
:D

My vest is one of the reason I carry more than one of my barlows at a time. It doesn't have as many pockets as the vest pictured above, but it does have an inside vertical chest pocket that looks as if it were made just for a pocket knife.

Here's an old KUTMASTER Barlow that has some real nice brown sawcut bone covers---similar to the recent TC Clip Barlow?

Notice how high the nail nick is on the Spear, I like it

The Spear has a half stop whereas the Pen does not

F&F is pretty good on this old Barlow. I really like the bolsters.

Paul

Real nice Kutmaster Barlow, Paul- made by Utica. They subcontracted knives for many other cutleries. Case, Schrade Cut. Co, Belknap. I'll add pics as I find them.

Can you see the similarity?

Thanks Charlie, great Barlows there. I can definitely see the similarities. I originally thought it had a striking resemblance to a Case in your very first post on page one, the upside down printed one.

The most Charlows I carry at one time is four. The thing is I carry all four of them in my watch pocket. ;)
