What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

I say do it!!!

As a dedicated collector of the #15 TCs, I've seen how the explosion in their popularity has led to them becoming unobtainium to many people. I think having more barlow choices on the market would lead to more people who want one being able to actually get one, without increasing the #15 production numbers too much. It'd give more people a chance to get one of your SFOs in their hands. Spread the barlow love around a bit more :D:thumbup:

With these being based on the Lick Creek boy's knife, might we see a Lyle's Choice Barlow? :D

I agree. I'm not a collector and would like the opportunity to purchase a #14 and slide it into my pocket:p........ I've always gravitated to the smaller size knife.

I really like this one! Very fitting, it reminds me of a knife from the 1800's

I'd love to see some sort of scratted bone on the 14, for extra grip. (Jigged would be nice as well, but I'm not sure how it would fit historically with 1800's style barlows.)

If you make the 14 Barlow but want to keep "TC" for the 15, how about using the below script, a la Cattauragus? (Sorry Pb won't let me rotate).

Nice Script Robb! You must be a calligrapher (sp?).

Don't do it Charlie! They will be nothing but trouble.

Just think of the flood of emails requesting the latest model every so often and the required responses; this could seriously affect your leisure time in a negative manner!:confused::rolleyes:

Also consider all the possible complaints with a few collectors unable to acquire that elusive cover material, and with aftermarket prices skyrocketing! Sheesh! I can hear the wailing already!:grumpy::mad::(

This may not be such a great idea. ;)

On the other hand... I LIKE IT!

We are going ahead with the #14 Barlows!
Since they are fraternal twins with the Lick Creek Boys knives, I've decided to call them Lick Creek Barlows.
They will have TC bolsters, a smaller version of of those on the #15s.

I think making them easy to anticipate, we will follow the pattern of the older siblings - the first ones will have long-pull spears, and saw-cut handles, with some soup-bones. I'll make a larger run so they will be a little easier to get.

Off we go! We should have some by Rendezvous time in August!

Leaving for Oregon in the AM, so back to packing!!
