What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

I will try hard to get one of the Lick Creek Barlows. I can't seem to ever get a #15 TC

Yesterday Joanne came upstairs from transferring a large, heavy-duty load of Jeans and towels to the dryer. She had one hand behind her back, and a sort of apologetic look on her face. As she brought her hand out, displaying a very clean looking Old Boiley, she said "sorry Charlie"!
Now this knife has been in my pocket for the majority of 4 years - the first TC out of the box! I usually put my own jeans in the wash, but we were kinda rushing around getting ready, because we are leaving for Oregon, so she grabbed them!
My heart leapt to my throat, as I said, "that's OK, it's probably OK! I'm sure it's fine!"
(Gulp!)
Well, it is fine. I probably over-oil it, if that's possible. And when I am done, I usually rub an oily finger all over it, before I wash my hands. Anyway, it does look cleaner!:D

I blew some WD-40 into it, followed by compressed air, then a healthy dose of mineral oil! No harm done. I was mostly worried about the bone. A lot of rubbed in dirt is gone - it looks lighter in color, but it appears unscathed.
I surrounded it with Protective talismans and good luck charms while it sat overnight, but it's gonna ride out the show in my pocket!
She Who Finds Knives put an extra spin on things, with no harm done!:D

Looks like OLd Boiley just shook off his soaking Charlie! :D He's looking pretty good

thanks for your kind support :-)
and btw, dont let the Mallorys silence your Lambfoot ...

The QC Inspector at Arthur Wright's might be a bigger worry John! :D I might go over and have a chat with them sometime  I was hoping to get over to see Stan Shaw tomorrow, but still suffering with my back! :( Hope you're well my friend

Charlie, I have washed two knives in the past few months. One a 77 Barlow and the other a Cripple Creek Barlow. Both are ok after some cleanup.

Well Charlie, Ol' Boiley came out good compared to my Barlow that sat soaking in that Seal of the Washing machine for week or so :mad:

:(

Old Boiley certainly came out of the washing-machine looking better than my last phone! :D

This is my favorite knife that I own. Unfortunately, I saw it on an auction site for three times what I paid for it, and that's made me nervous about carrying it. It's a beautiful slicer and I love everything about it, but if I lose it, it's going to be a heck of a time replacing it.
Someone talk me into dropping it back in my pocket, please!
