What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

StoneBeard, that is one of the best examples I've seen yet, congrats, very nice Barlow. I love how Charlie and GEC try to recreate the knives of our past.

Vintage Case with wonderful Ragg bone,

Vintage Case with wonderful Ragg bone,

You just gave me some inspiration for tomorrow's carry.

Got my 14 Barlow in with Ragg Cherry sawcut bone...But it doesn't say TC or have a long-pull! What gives GEC D:

Jk but this Erickson is the same size as them TC 14's, beautiful examples shown today.

Another custom barlow I acquired recently.

Beautiful red jigged-bone

You're right, Tim, that bone is beautiful - superb jigging!

And the Erickson is also great. You really are getting some top-notch customs.

Maybe it's a trick of the light but it almost seems like that bolster stamp is just off...

(Yeah, I'm sure I just opened an even more massive can of worms by critiquing a Bose. :p)

Please pardon my ignorance, but I'm having a difficult time finding a definition of "Ragg Bone." What characteristic identifies a knife scale as being Ragg Bone? Thanks!

This thread has caused me to have a love for the Barlow that I never had. The TC's are really my first experience with them and have also been partially responsible for my recent affinity towards the big bolstered beauties!

Anyway, I am carrying the 2-blade Smooth White bone #14 today. These are solid little knives!
