What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

The Ulimate right there my friend.
Paul rescued me Ron- My two Originals Good Ol' "Flat Belly" clip- point Red Saw Cut TC and my Ebony Spear TC traveled everywhere - over to England, Scotland then I lost my single TC Ebony :mad::(

Paul found me another one- one of the originals. Never forget that. Paul again thank you my friend.

Man, you all are slacking, this thread was 4 pages back, will have to bring it back to the top with a couple recent finds.

First up an original Russell Barlow with close to full blades and beautiful translucent smooth bone,

And a KeenKutter, I think this one is from the last time someone tried to resurrect the name, 1990's maybe, it's unused, Appears to be saw cut wood.

It Does Not get much better than the complete page so far of page 725 .

There is only one knife on the page that is not a real jewel .
Starts with the wonderful Russell and ending with the Diamond Edge.
Fine knives all Gentlemen . Just kidding about the one .

Harry

Fellas, thanks for sharing all those photos of wonderful old "sure enough" Barlows. I have been enamoured of this pattern since I read Tom Sawyer as a kid in the early '60's. I have the first Barlow I ever owned, an old Providence marked Imperial. My Dad bought it for me at Lines' General Store in Summertown, Tenn. it's a bit beat up, and still has a nice snap to it, but does have a tiny bit of blade wobble. I just upgraded to a #77 Copperhead saw cut bone model, and cannot wait for it to arrive. Thanks again to all for showing your classics!
