What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Merry Christmas to all, hope everyone has a Barlow under the tree or in your pocket, some Christmas color.

I truly enjoy the traditional barlow thread. It has been great this past year to see the many unique collections and learn from the discussions on cover selection, blade shape, tang stamps and other markings in the identification and histories from various manufacturers of this old style. Although my few examples are modern reproductions I value a new knife that is based on a timeless classic in both looks and quality.Thank you all for so many meaningful contributions and amazing pictures.

Thank you Charlie for this latest TC Barlow. It is an attractive, functional knife that I feel very lucky to have in my collection and pocket. A huge thank you also to Barry. I had missed these when the production was announced and accepted that I would not have a chance to pick one up. I saw Barry's message about a week ago and he made my Christmas! Your the man Barry, thanks for all you do here.

And one with its humble family-

Merry Christmas to all, hope everyone has a Barlow under the tree or in your pocket, some Christmas color.

John, I agree with you about the red EF&S...AMAZING BARLOW.

Phil, the new smooth bone #15 TC, there were a few made in smooth bone and a bigger jig as well weren't there? You do have so real BEAUTIFUL and rare TC's:cool::thumbup:

Yessir Paul! Here's Charlie's post on it:

Philllll et.al, here is some some 'splainin'!!

GEC ran out of Peachseed at the end of the run. There is a certain "fall-down" - cracks, flaws and the like, that render pieces unusable.
It looks like the last 25 knives or so have "alternate" handles.
There are several with that horse-cut-looking jig, which they are labelling "Pony-Cut", and a few smooth bone as well, all with the same dye.

Nice ones Dean!
I like it when that TC shows a little more green!

Great Christmas Barlows Dean:thumbup:

Thanks Phil, I thought I read it somewhere. Is there a pony cut in that stable of yours:D
