What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

A HSB, this one came from the same seller that I got the spey blade HSB from,

John, I can't think of a word that describes my joy at seeing that Barlow! What I said was "Wow," but that really doesn't do it justice.

Have not had a chance to post much in the last month or so but I still have been adding Barlows to the collection when I can find them. Added these three recently, all 3 are in little to no use condition, 2 have long pull spears which is probably my favorite blade profile.

A bone handled Boker, still has a faint Tree Brand blade etch but my pictures don't show it,

You're killing me with those OVBs!

I just picked this one up, Utica Kutmaster with an interesting bolster stamp

Congrats, Augie and philllll! :thumbup::thumbup:
Love those old two-bladed Barlows with something other than a clip main!
Remarkable bolster stamp on your Kutmaster, Phil! ;)

Thank you GT, Dean,Gasman, Duncan,Phil, Lloyd, Alan, appreciate the comments.

Phil, that is now the second one I have seen with that bolster stamp, the other one also has the sheepsfoot blade, maybe they were done special for someone?

Gasman, nice Scrade, they are a decent knife, enjoy.

Some great Barlow models shown with some very interesting bolster stamps. Very unique "$" stamp on that "Kutmaster", Phil.

I don't have many barlows in my collection, but I posted this knife on the Old Knives thread, but I think it also belongs here.

Nice! Any idea how old it is? The lettering on the tangs of the blades shows some age, but the blades themselves are in excellent condition.

What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Easy Open lockback with stag handles and a lanyard hole. Not common, but Good and Traditional!

What's Better Than a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Two (or many more) ;)

Thank you Jack, was very happy to add those Barlows.

A couple more came today, newer knives in mint condition, a stag Robeson, I think these were made by Queen. 2 full blades and some of the best matched stag I've seen on a knife.

The other is a Colonial Old Cutler, compared to Colonial's regular knives the Old Cutlers are decently made knives, you can still find them new for little money and they make a good user. I keep trying to add ones in all the different handle materials they were made in, would really like to find a red bone.

What I like most about this thread is all the various Barlows that have been posted over the years, keeps showing more examples that I have to keep my eyes open for, Charles fine knife is a prime example.

Angie those scales are really matched. Super nice..

Real nice Russell, Al!
Great handful, John! I especially like the Queen/Robeson. The Stag is nicely fitted. Any idea when that one was made?

Thanks Charlie, from what I can find I'm thinking early to mid 90's, the knife is very well made, is that time frame when Bill was at Queen?

He left in 2006, so that one was likely under his watch!
