What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

I was with @ADEE in Huddersfield, and spotted this Sicilian restaurant from the top-deck of the double-decker bus we were on. I said 'I must get a pic for Charlie!', but it was a struggle to get my camera out in time. Have to make a return visit :)

Thanks for taking a picture of that restaurant, Jack!! I have never seen an avowed Sicilian Restaurant in North America!!
 
A couple stand-outs for me on this knife are the way the swedge accentuates the blade shape, and the old-timey blockiness of the covers. I have an old Ulster Barlow with handle covers like that.

We’ll, my ancient arrived yesterday. I wish I could say I loved everything about it, but....

...I’m on vacation with the family in Oregon for a long weekend. So I won’t know how I like it until I get home. Based on the pictures I’ve seen so far I’m guessing I will like it. It will be a nice treat when I get home.

Been using my ancient this weekend

Harvested some mint from my grandparents garden and helped with my fiancee's grandparents yard work

Congratulations to everyone that was able to land one of these Ancients, really looks to be a great Barlow.

Not able to land an Ancient yet but did add some vintage Barlows the past couple of weeks, couple of mint Queens from the 1950's with one arm and sheeps foot blades and a Shapleigh DE with full blades.

Even though I wasn't present to get one of these, I think Charlie knocked this one out of the park! Next to the Ancient Scratted Bone, that I also missed, this is my new Favorite TC,,,,OH THE PAIN!!!
