What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

W
Sorry Duncan, thought I text you??? Only mine showed up, odd isn't it:eek:o_O:D

Yes, so did yours, but yours looks heavily used for some reason:mad:;):)

Why you........... you son of a..gun :p

Looking good Brother, looking good! Well done Charlie - yet another smashing of the ball WAYnorth out of the Park my friend!

Congratulations to everyone that was able to land one of these Ancients, really looks to be a great Barlow.

Not able to land an Ancient yet but did add some vintage Barlows the past couple of weeks, couple of mint Queens from the 1950's with one arm and sheeps foot blades and a Shapleigh DE with full blades.

Those Queens are incredible. I would love to get either of those models, especially in such great condition. I love pretty much everything about them, but especially the slight guard to the bolster.

I remember seeing some pictures that had cards in them that said “Dye 1 or 2” and some of them are significantly lighter than others. I know that some bone will take due differently than other. Just seems odd. Maybe they were all “dye 2” or whatever I can’t find the picture with the dye card but here is an example of what I’m talking about. I certainly could be wrong and it’s not a big difference.

Can't get enough of this Ancient.

You could be right about the dye. They both look good, but mine came with dark dye on the mark side and very light dye on the other side. My preference would have been that both sides match. I’m happy to have been able to get one, though.

Sure am diggin the new Ancients! Can't wait to get my hands on one!! They look GREAT!!

Been a pretty wet spring here so far, which is a good thing in this neck of the woods! I love the fresh clean smell of the sagebrush after the rain and new life is everywhere!! In between rain showers I got a chance to walk my little dog and found the tiniest deer tracks I've ever seen. This little guy must only be a couple of days up on his feet!:) Didn't have a coin for size but I had an ancient from the first run.... the tracks are about the same size as the bolster ;)
