Just getting my feet wet and I think I already made the rookie mistake of paying top (or over-top) dollar for one or two of mine, but I actually don't have regrets, I wanted 'em.
Just curious what might be some dangers I might encounter as I begin this hog hunt.

Rule 1. No Regrets

Rule 2. Buy INFI

as long as you follow these two rules, your hog experience will be excellent ;)

Don't buy from Liu Kang.

Don't bring up the noss videos.

Try not to go all in and wipe out your retirement account.

I can attest to this one... i'm still recovering from having my skin peeled off for making this mistake

and leme tell ya, when busse folks decide to peel someone, they've got the tools to do the job right

Biggest thing I learned, you have to go hold and try out knives before buying them. They all look and feel really different than what their pictures suggested to me. The huge SAR 8 is a lot lighter than it looks, and the popular NMSFNO weighed my hand down.

This is important because, though most people say you break even buying, selling, and trading Busses, I've found myself to have lost a lot. Shipping adds up, and I just don't want to screw over anyone with high prices.

Also, get in a Custom Shop order now, because you won't be seeing it for a while, especially if it's got wood handles.

Don't worry about paying top dollar. Bargains last all of 2 seconds on the Exchange, so it's rare to find anything "cheap". As long as you get the knife you want and you can still afford to eat until next pay, it's all good.

"No Regrets" is the perfect Infi buyers motto!

Chris.

Having seen your previous forum activity, I'd have to suggest you start deciding which of your sexy Chris Reeves knives you're going to sell to feed the need for INFI!

Once you've had a taste of the goodness, you're going to find yourself hooked!

You don't know the Pandora's box you're about to open...welcome :D

Such a wealth of knowledge and some learned lessons I can learn from, thanks all!
Keep 'em coming.
Oh, and how do I get a Custom Shop order in? Go to the Busse website? Rookie question :)

From my experience:
  • If you want to check if any blanks for some model are available, e-mail Garth@bussecombat.com or Orders@bussecombat.com. This usually takes a while for them to check.
  • If you want some consultation, call them and speak with Garth. He's awesome, really helpful, but there's a whole world of custom work that can be done to a knife that you shouldn't expect him to tell you everything, so do some research first and get creative beforehand. Ask him "can you do this" or "what are my options if I want this," not "what can I do."
  • When you're ready to place your order, write down all the specs and e-mail them to Garth@bussecombat.com and Orders@bussecombat.com.

Email Garth Garth@bussecombat.com

Tell him what you want and he'll get back to you with a price

I have 3 orders in the custom shop now. A Gladius, a MUK LE, and an AK47

They're great folks to deal with

No need warning you or telling you to run anymore....looks like its far too late for that! Have fun :)
True. What's strange to me is how I actually prefer folders, but there's something about these fixed blades that are captivating. Even want to change my username to BusseHusse :D

Hahaha! BusseHusse! You just launched a gulp of iced tea out my nose with that....LOL, I love it!

Go watch the Noss video's on youtube, if you have not already. Amazing display of abuse that Infi can withstand (but as resinguy says, if you mention them here, it always starts an argument).

Don't wipe out your retirement account.

I have never been addicted to anything (well, caffeine).

But Infi is so hard to resist. Every time there is a new, awesome release, it is very hard to maintain fiscal responsibility.

Save it for your hog name... i don't have one yet, but i will mortgage my wife to make it to the next meeting. I loves me some folders too, but INFI is an addiction... it's like crack that you can cut stuff with

Now, that's funny!

We appreciate self-deprecating humor.

And we always need more hussies here. ;)

I'm totally stoked about my first Busse arriving tomorrow. I've never even held one, nor seen one in person, I'm preparing to be delighted!
