What might be some rookie mistakes newbies like myself might make?

LOL, Lycosa when I first read your comment, I thought you were saying I'd have a little HOG before I know it, after my kiss comment! :D
I'll tell the postman the kiss is from the BusseHusse.

Excellent name for sure!:D When you go to the next Blade show you might ask for that name when being inducted; well, BusseHusseHog maybe....:D:thumbup:

Blade 2013 is the plan.....I almost went to the one this month, but too many work conflicts.
About an hour and 15 now for the USPS, but who's counting.

Never, NEVER. bring up the ZT077 vs. Microtech Matrix controversy. I made that mistake on my first post on here.

Not to worry, no plan of doing that.
Must respect the Busse forum...X vs. Y brand discussions never end well.

Lisa, EVERY knife person needs to go to Blade at least once in their life, and the more often the better! You will find that it's more about getting together with folks, with knives being the secondary reason...;)

Lisantica,

Blade show is a must! M67 and myself were talked into going to Blade shortly after discovering Busse knives more than three years ago, and have made it down to Atlanta every year since. Attending Blade, meeting the Busse family (including all hogs), going to all of the special dinners (especially Hog induction) and events is a real life changing experience. Hopefully I will be able to keep going every year.

By the way, you are going to love your Busse addiction!

Just looked up the Blade 2013 dates of May 31st -June 2nd ---possibly doable, but it sure would be a quick weekend. May have to scout out something sooner and where I can make a little mini-vacation out of it.

Impulse buying was ALWAYS my malfunction until I learned to relax. Other than that this place, the people and the Busse Combat Knives make it home. Only other advice I could give is hey just ask questions. I have had so many questions over the years and EVERYONE and I mean EVERYONE has been extremely helpful. Lisa, I bet you are going to love those 3 you got coming;).

Just getting my feet wet and I think I already made the rookie mistake of paying top (or over-top) dollar for one or two of mine, but I actually don't have regrets, I wanted 'em.
Just curious what might be some dangers I might encounter as I begin this hog hunt.
Welcome to the Busse forum! Regarding paying too much, I have knowingly done so on occasion to get a particular model, or maybe a specific blade/handle color combo, so for me it was worth it. I would say that most if not all of the Busse knives I have had for at least a few years I could sell at a profit. Prices do vary over time though, especially with the state of the economy. Have fun!

Correct, I love the two that already arrived. Hopefully the 3rd will arrive soon, it's traveling international :)

gk4ever2, appreciate your comment.

It's been one month and I've made LOTS of mistakes :D
I got impulsive, nature of the knife-buying beast in me I suppose. :p

I didn't focus on one type, I bought a variety of ranges, but I don't regret that as I got to try out quite a few from FSH to Cultie.

Still sampling a few here and there, you folks were right, the cool-aid goes down easy.

And thankfully the retirement account has been left intact, for now :D
