What might be some rookie mistakes newbies like myself might make?

As your tastes become more refined, as with good liquor, I might add, you will begin to discover "old school" blades as well. Something simply magical about a SHSH or a SHBA. And then there's the ergos. I've had a SH-E on my field pack since I started gathering Busse blades. It has served me well for many, many tasks and never failed me, plus it fits my delicate little hand. :D

One lady to another, I am glad to see you here!

This may be a silly q's or one you may not wish to post the answer for but why not LK?

I got this... :D

Because he's a snake and a crook. He doesn't (didn't) share our love and passion for Infi. He sure did love exploiting it though. As a "dealer" he abused the special privileges that went with the title, and preyed on the new and uninformed. In short, he was not conducive to what you'll find to be a family atmosphere around here.

Welcome to the family lisantica. Nice collection you've amassed.

That was a very family freindly answer :)

If you see one you like as the current production, FREAKING BUY IT.

Don't keep waiting and regret it later like I did when I first got interested in Busse. (the NMFBM was the current production at the time, really wish I'd ordered one :grumpy:)

Now there's a Hog with great taste. :D
Thanks all and VoxHog....here's the one I dearly love, (bottom one in photo):

As one of the Oldest Hogs on this forum I find this kind of talk uncalled for and rude.
I have had many, many good dealings with LK and I never sold him a knife for a price I wasn't comfortable with, and I never bought a knife from him I was forced to pay more than I wanted too.
There where a lot of other people on here that started the whole "Flipping" the knife thing before LK.
Why do you think you don't see a lot of Old Hogs on here any more, it's not because of LK, it's because of the new attitude that came with the "New" Hogs.
My advice is buy what you like, buy what you will use and educate yourself on what you are buying and figure out what you're willing to pay for it.
If you see something you want don't wait, buy it.

Think twice before you sell it, don't pass a bargain priced knife to someone you don't know, put it on an auction site and make all the money on the sale you can. If you do a deal here someone will flip it for cash. There use to be many on here that would move a knife to a fellow Hog at cost, many on here started using that to buy and flip for profit, I will never do it again.
Good Luck, there are many good people on here, just educate yourself and don't be afraid to ask questions.

Yea, I was wondering why all the animosity towards LK, I have dealt with him a few times and had no problem at all. His prices are a little steep but whatever he had what I wanted.

Edited... never mind

My advice: Wait. Know/figure out what you want and get over FOMO. If you are patient, you will find deals on the exchange. Both of these knives combined cost me around $1250 in my hand.

What model is the bottom knife? Custom shop Battle Mistress?

Biggest thing I learned, you have to go hold and try out knives before buying them. They all look and feel really different than what their pictures suggested to me. The huge SAR 8 is a lot lighter than it looks, and the popular NMSFNO weighed my hand down.

This is important because, though most people say you break even buying, selling, and trading Busses, I've found myself to have lost a lot. Shipping adds up, and I just don't want to screw over anyone with high prices.

Also, get in a Custom Shop order now, because you won't be seeing it for a while, especially if it's got wood handles.

What is going on with the custom shop? I have been out of the loop lately
