SCHWEETT!!Just got this in the mail today. I’ve owned plenty of SAKs in my life, but this is my first Wenger. It’s interesting to see the small differences in the tools. The locking blade is an interesting feature I haven’t experience on an SAK before.

Looks like early 1985 production. The 90° stop on the caplifter and no eyelet in the awl confirm. What vintage is mine?
It does help…many 4 layer knives get this particular 1mm ‘full’ liner starting in the mid-late ‘70s. That liner gets phased out at different times depending on the model as they all have different ‘construction protocols’.Notice that, on one knife, the liner that separates the scissors from the saw is not trimmed back like it is on the others. I'm guessing that also helps date the knife?

I appreciate the information. You obviously have a passion for SAK, and I'm glad you are willing to share your knowledge. Individually, we can't be an expert on everything, so that makes forums like this one especially valuable. Thanks for your input. That spoon thing actually came in handy last weekend, I used it to successfully unscrew the license plate screws from my neighbor’s new car for her. Weirdly enough, that’s the second time I’ve used it for that exact task.
