Just got this in the mail today. I’ve owned plenty of SAKs in my life, but this is my first Wenger. It’s interesting to see the small differences in the tools. The locking blade is a feature I haven’t experienced on an SAK before.

Technically I didn't buy them today, but they did come in the mail today and yesterday. Both L.L. Bean branded, one a Victorinox the other a Wenger. The Wenger is the fault of btb01 btb01 . I saw the one he got, and got curious. Mine isn't in as nice of shape, but still looks like it was carried more than used. I dig the size of it too.

Picked up a couple SAKs at the Badger Knife Club show in Janesville, WI this weekend.

The first was this Wenger-made SwissBuck. I believe the model is the Trekker. It appears to be unused, I’m fairly sure both blades have the factory edge. Came with the orignal box and paperwork (use/care instructions, warranty registration, etc.)

I also grabbed this little Vic Classic. Although I have a few around the house, I’ve never really been a fan of the Classic, but the grey color stood out in a pile of other Classics, and (after a bit of squinting) I thought the FBI seal on the back made it interesting enough to shell out $5.

Notice that, on one knife, the liner that separates the scissors from the saw is not trimmed back like it is on the others. I'm guessing that also helps date the knife?
It does help…many 4 layer knives get this particular 1mm ‘full’ liner starting in the mid-late ‘70s. That liner gets phased out at different times depending on the model as they all have different ‘construction protocols’.

Looks like early 1985 production. The 90° stop on the caplifter and no eyelet in the awl confirm.

I appreciate the information. You obviously have a passion for SAK, and I'm glad you are willing to share your knowledge. Individually, we can't be an expert on everything, so that makes forums like this one especially valuable. Thanks for your input. T-A
