What multitool or SAK did you buy today

Based on the geared technology, it was likely made by SOG. I have several SOGs and would love to add one like yours to my herd. Nice find! T-A
Thanks T A and yep, it's a SOG alright. I have another SOG from 20 yrs ago and like it. The compound leverage is the real deal but with that said, I'd grab my Surge or 300 over this but I do like it and ya can't beat the Harley Davidson stamp on the plier head  🙂

Same here...my EDC is a fully accessorized Surge in a Skinth Plus holster. One thing you can do with compound leverage that you can't do with a Surge is use the tips of the pliers to separate things by pulling the handles apart. Fortunately I don't need that feature very often. T-A

This had been on my radar for awhile and threw a bid out there and landed it. Released in 2020 from what I gather, not that there weren't other dates it was released, I'm just not sure. Came really loose...to loose for my liking and after a little time I dialed it in to what I like. Beefy for sure. Now to land a sheath for it. Will follow the link mitch13 mitch13 sent me ;) 🙂

Really cool, Paul. My dad would’ve been all over that. :)

Thanks Barrett, nothing really rare but rare enough in my book. I'll more than likely put in in my tool pouch on my Triumph (hey, I'm a former Harley owner as well) but happy to add it to my MT collection. Just in case anyone is wondering, I have several Harley's on my radar for this summers riding season ;) 😁

$7.50 pawn shop purchase, but I can't identify the model. Anyone know what I got?

This makes 98 SAKs in my collection, but I can't tell you what most of the model names are. I guess I lack passion for the breed. I studied the SAK 91mm 4 layer model chart but to no avail. T-A

Mine lacks the hook on the back. Is that the only difference? What vintage is mine? I looked for SAK Huntsman history on the web but couldn't find answers to my questions. T-A
Ha I'm no expert but with info I can gather from your photos your huntsman is older then 1985 and newer then 1975. If I were to guess I'd say it's closer to 1985. Tang stamps, reamer, grooved cork screw, scissors screw, scissors spring, and keyring hole all add up to these dates.
I would have bought it too. A real treasure in my eyes mate.

Thanks for your help. I really need to become more fluent in SAK-speak so I can better appreciate what I have in my collection. T-A

So, this must be an even older four layer 91 mm knife that has something to do with fishing? Am I on the right track?

I could have studied the chart, but, as old as this knife must be, I figured it was easier to ask. I appreciate your help. (My area of expertise is LM PSTs, especially the early ones.) T-A

An older Huntsman. One of my favourites.
So, looking through my accumulation of SAKs, I discovered 4 more Campers! None of them have the hook on the back.

Notice that, on one knife, the liner that separates the scissors from the saw is not trimmed back like it is on the others. I'm guessing that also helps date the knife? Thanks for your help. T-A

Once again I'm not and expert but I'd say this is an original tool set Angler these days the Angler has pliers instead of scissors. A lot of things happened in 1961, the corkscrew became a 4 turn instead of a five turn the exposed reamer was changed to the new version along with a few other changes. So this points to your being pre 61. And probably newer then 1951 due to the swiss pat can opener stamp. It definitely has the wrong scissors spring but the originals are hard to find
Now as I said I'm not an expert but I know it's something I'd be proud of, a 60+ year old knife.
.

The other Huntsman you have are all beauties and your lucky to have some nice old knives. I'm not sure about the liners and there use for dating.

Well, you might not be an expert, but you certainly are a wealth of SAK knowledge! Thanks so much for filling me in on these details. I'm nerdy enough to truly appreciate all the details you've covered. BTW, I consider "Nerd" to be a high honor. Thanks, T-A

T.A. I have the near exact model (hole in awl) and at one time I too looked (sakwiki) and could not find exactly what I was looking for. Sometime later (here or elsewhere) learned it was an older Hunstman. I know pretty close as to when I purchased this as it's one of my oldest knives that I've owned. I was with my wife at a hardware store and purchased it on my birthday (3/23/1984 or 1985) along with one of the worst firearms I ever purchased (Jennings .22 pistol manufactured in Chino CA) pretty sure they're defunct years ago, that thing would jam just looking at it....anyways. Now for how long it may have sat in inventory is unknown.

It has lived all of it's life except one year (as it was my carry) in our medicine cabinet/laundry room. I literally just gave it it's yearly sharpen and oil treatment Tuesday of this week :)
