What multitool or SAK did you buy today

Got another made-in-Japan PST in the mail today:

It has the large font LEATHERMAN and no USA on the plier pivot, but, like the other 4 in the row of 5, JAPAN doesn't appear anywhere on the tool:

Each tool in the row of 3 has the large font and JAPAN marked on the tang. This last tool in my photos is quite unusual:

This tool has the small font, typical of USA-made tools, and "POCKET SURVIVAL TOOL" spelled out on the handle, but lacks USA on the plier pivot. Now look at the tang marking:

It's clearly marked JAPAN. Anybody else have unusual early PSTs to show? Thanks for watching! T-A

Have you guys seen these?!!

They put a file on a 91mm, added a box opener, and might have just made my perfect SAK. I've always said that my 3 favorite tools are scissors, cap lifter, and nail file; and if I could make a 4th it would be a dedicated package opener. It seems they've actually went and done it. I love my old Wenger Traveler (can opener sharpened for packages), but the fact that this one has Vic scissors will likely even supplant that one for me.

I'm not too sure about the design on the wood scales though. I might carefully remove them and set them aside for safekeeping and throw on some plus scales to add the pen. I guess there are rumors of a regular cellidor version forthcoming, but I just couldn't wait. Inbound as we speak from DLT

That's really neat! I don't remember when it was the last time I used can opener thanks to the lid levers that all cans come with these days. Some people seem to swear on the can openers but I usually try to eat something bit more fresh or something I made the day before. I understand that it's another thing if you live outback without refridgerators.

just pulled the trigger on a Spirit XBS …
you folks are a terrible influence.
😞
This showed up a couple days ago. Been working the tools, using it for every little odd job, and it’s getting smoother (like breaking in a new pair of Klein’s).

I’ve decided I like it a lot.
Still not sure about paying the absurd premium for the burnished version, but it’s here, it’s mine, and so it shall be …

Whelp, I uhhhh...I guess I can't really show it here, since it's got a single blade, but I purchased one of the new Victorinox Evoke knives. Saw that red/blue combo, had to smash that purchase button immediately. Can't wait to get it!!

Oooh, that one caught my eye too, looking forward to seeing some irl pics. I saw it when I was considering picking something else up with the one I posted above just to get free shipping. It was all I could do not to snag one, but I'm in the process of buying and remodeling a new house and I've been trying to use that to temporarily shift my obsession a bit. That being said, I don't want to admit how close I was to picking up one of those Magnacut Sebenzas in Madagascar Ebony they had in stock at the time, so that tells ya how well that's working 🤣

Nice
I hear you I thought the black is nice but too pricey.
Will be good to see how it holds up for you.

Is it just me or does the thumb stud look a little too far away from the pivot?

not exactly new to me. I’ve had it for a couple months now. I thought I would share it as a “lessons learned” …
I picked this up from a modder in the Ukraine. That in itself was a brave (stupid?) move, because there was really no guarantee that it would get past customs on the far end …
It is basically a pioneer, minus the punch and split ring attachment, and (clearly) with a different blade.

What I like:
Upgraded blade (M390), with one-hand opening capability.
Distressed bronze scales and acid washed blades.
No ring attachment (I requested that, and he swapped out the backspring).
What I learned:
Bronze scales = heavy knife!
One hand opening capability was really stiff at first, (I adjusted the tension on the pivot, but I also think it is partly due to the fact that positioning of the hole in the blade in relation to the pivot are not ideal). But I can “Spydie drop” it open and the action is (slowly) getting smoother for normal thumb opening.

All in all, I like it. And it is scalpel sharp!
It is a bit heavy, but not too heavy to carry, given the fact that it can serve as my only knife if need be.
I guess my biggest takeaway is to learn to consider certain aspects in modded knives that I may not have thought of before.

A Spartan Wood is on order. In the past few weeks I’ve bought my first Pioneer, followed by a Cadet and now the Spartan Wood. When does it end?!?! A One Handed Trekker has been in my truck for a few years. This buying spree all of a sudden started because I saw a picture of an Alox and was toying with the idea of a SAK at the bottom of my pocket everyday.

🤣
You said “When does it end?”
BWAHAHAHAHA!!!
🤣🤣

Spartan was delivered early this week and then I had a hankering for a Huntsman to match which was delivered today. Love the color and grain on the Huntsman. The Spartan will get there with some use. I’m still a fan. ;)

Huntsman on the left and Spartan on the right.
