What pattern would you like to see in 2016 as the Trad Forum Knife

I'd like a Sowbelly with a spiral punch, sheepsfoot and a Lanny's type clip main. Pinecone micarta would be Icing!!!

As much as I thought that would be a hideous abomination  (and the fact I don't care too much for the little 'nut :D), it's actually a cool idea.

So, r8shell, this one's for you!

Wow, Thanks!
Hmm...Maybe we could split the difference. If your Gunstock pattern were close to the size of GEC's #22 Magnum with clip blade and punch. :)

I'd love to see a Swayback Jack with a warncliffe main and a caplifter in either micarta or wood. 3 1/4 - 3 1/2 inches closed. That would be a dream knife for me.

I would love to see something that is a nod to the past:

-- Doctor's knife with spatula
-- tang folder, similar to a peasant knife, but not as bare bones

If not one of those, something simple like a Sodbuster/Farmer's knife.

FWIW, I would love a good excuse to buy a Lanny's clip or cattle knife.

Agreed on this endeavor. I'd like to see any of these. Or a Barlow to mark the departure of CC possibly not doing anymore sfo's and what he has done for the GEC lovers in us.

That's pretty funny! The reality is, I'd still be in for a couple just because it's the forum knife!!

But, since we're dreaming here:rolleyes:....this is what I sketched up last year. Gunstock with a combo punch/cap lifter. I still like the idea.

What's that pointy left blade for?

Alrighty, gotta get in somewhere to keep updated, here's as good a thread as any this early. :)

I'm interested in a european or a small fixed blade back pocket type of knife.

Single clip in maybe a gunstock with end caps? Have all Forum knives been in 1095, or is a stainless blade a consideration. I put a lot of emphasis on blade steel.

2009 Barlow was D2. It depends on what the maker is willing to offer.

In the OP's quoted post there's a line stating that there is no profit involved in this deal and that the issuer would need to donate time...that doesn't mean time is free. Time is a cost and therefore not considered part of profit. Whoever sets this up shouldn't have to lose money on the deal. Break even is fair. Just saying I'd pay more if that helps us get a 2016 forum knife...whatever the design is.

I'm liking the GEC 25 and Beer Scout

I'd like a EO spear long pull Beer Scout but Hubertus-style with the cap lifter as the "automatic" so I don't have to set down my beer.

LOL, I don't know that I've ever seen a switchblade cap lifter. I do have a butterfly "knife" that's just a bottle opener.

I'm hoping for a Peanut, Punchnut, Beernut with jigged bone handles.

I would also like to see a good cattle knife (Speer Main, Sheepsfoot, and either a Spey or Pen).

(1) Double end premium jack exactly like this one except with a sheepfoot instead of the spey blade

(2) Sowbelly

(3) Carpenter's Knife. These were made using several different handle shapes. Some are shaped like GEC's 47 pattern. Ideally, the blades would sit low in the handle. This old example has the pulls on the same side whereas I'd put the pulls on opposite sides so that the blades can be lower in the handle.

curved handle

(4) Sleeveboard with locking clip blade and sheepfoot/coping secondary

(5) GEC 38 with the same blade combination shown in #4 (clip and sheepfoot/coping secondary)

(6) Orange Blossom.

(7) Eureka Cattle pattern ...with 2 springs instead of 3 springs... either split backspring whittler or standard cattle knife configuration... and sheepfoot instead of spey blade

(8) 3-blade surveyor

Lots of good ideas here folks. I really like supratentorial's #1 and #3 options (curved handle please). I also like the thought of a single blade gunstock pattern. Spear or clip blade, doesn't matter.

My preference is single spring 2 bladed patterns and really enjoy the 2015 CSC knife--so I guess if a 2016 happens it will not be like that again. But that punchnut mockup is tickling me just right!
