Back to my yellow Queen sodbuster today. It's the sharpest and most reliable D2 blade I've ever had! Still shaves hair after 2-3 weeks of light duty!

This was just finished for me yeaterday by MS Bailey Bradshaw- it will be in my pocket the day it arrives!!!

Just received a large yellow-scaled stockman from Eye Brand. A little time with a Lansky and Sharpmaker, and the edges were perfect (I gave each blade its own angle). There was a bit of play on the clip blade from a bit of extra space between it and the inner liner. A quick trip to the vise and all is well.

There was some leftover grit in the works, but Tuf-glide took that right out.

All in all, this is a great knife. Walk and talk are excellent, and the backsprings are strong. The edges are sweet.

This will be my EDC until the Eye Brand Sodbuster gets called into the weekend rotation.

Today, I'm off work, so the Western folding hunter is in its sheath on the right hip and the Queen single blade jack (the delrin Winterbottom, not the BEM) is in the front pocket.

Yesterday and today a Case amber bone texas jack. One of my favorite pocket knives.

Scagel by Queen in my RF jeans pocket, Leatherman in a beltpouch. The Scagel is too heavy for lighter pants or shorts, but suits jeans just right! Cool day up here in the Great White North!

Glad that old Queen is making some mileage, like it was meant to, Amos! You saved it from a dusty, dark existence, in a roll, in a drawer! I'm trying to find out what steel it is. I think it's one of the 440's?!

Why do you call the scagel a Queen. They are sold by vintage knives as a northwoods product. I know that Queen does contract work, but per a KnifeWorld article it appeared they are at least assembled by the custom cutlery/northwoods group or is that just the fixed blade scagels? Are the parts Queen? By the way, I wss wondering, are the liners steel? I've seen them listed as nickel silver, but the Knifeworld article said they were steel. If they are steel, any rust problems?

I've just been carrying my large Eye Brand sodbuster lately...

OK, I'll play,too!! :D

Today I'm packin':

  • My new baby, a Victorinox Huntsman Plus that I re-scaled Monday night in blaze orange G-10, to make a high-visibility hiking/camping knife. It was my first attempt at a customized SAK, and I gotta say, I turned out very nicely. Tied me a nice lanyard, too, outta 1/8" reflective cord; if I lose this thing, I'll have no one to blame but myself!

  • Not exactly a slippie, although I generally use it like one: a customized Opinel No.10 INOX. I ground the blade down into a drop-point, polished it up nice and shiny-like, and added some simple filework to the spine for my thumb; the handle I carved down to minimum size the covers the blade and fits my hand, and finished with boiled linseed oil. I've been carrying this one a lot lately...

My understanding is, Queen made them, completely. I don't know about the fixed blades however. A magnet tries to stick to the liners, so they are steel. No signs of rust yet (just dirt and lint). For the heck of it, I'm going to ask the production guy at Queen these questions, as I have an SFO in with them.

I love John Howser slipjoints, I have three or four, I have been carrying a Gunstock that he made for me about two years ago. With John you get a lot of knife for the money.

Well, I'm moving house today , so it's my Kniessler farmers knife, a small SAK on the keys, & (not a slippie, granted) my Gerber Legend.

Carried some pretty red jigged bone this morning!

Hey,
it is good to see people carrying Schrade knives.

I love my 8OT, my 34OT and my 897UH - carried regularly.

Who else carries Old Timers ?
apart from the Schrade nuts ( I include myself in that category) that we already know about ?

It would be interesting to know.

Today I've got one of my favorites, my 61OT (4" large slim stockman). It's as long as the 8OT, but slimmer and lighter, and I'm a sucker for that long turkish clip.

Today I had this Shrade Kious in my pocket. 3.5" closed with 2 nice stainless damascus blades. All I need around the office.
