What sort of Job do you have?

I'm retired military, four years in the Marine Corps and sixteen in the Army, plus twenty years with the Dept of Defense. No I do what I want, when I want and it feels good.

Currently I work for an aquafarm as a larvae and nursery technician.

I use a knife just about every day for opening bags of charcoal, cutting zip ties and tubing, just about everything.

I manage an industrial product test laboratory. We conduct tests per UL, CSA, TUV, FCC, IEC, etc. standards. My knives get lots of exercise opening boxes containing samples and test equipment/parts.

I am a Union Elevator Constructor, as an apprentice we were required to carry a knife. I always liked knives and this just reinforced it.

I'm a history and anthropology student. I work part time as a wilderness/hunting guide, I train horses and volunteer in the local mounted SAR unit.

My knives see a lot of use, mainly because I spend a lot of time outside the city, and having a knife handy is always a good thing outdoors or at the farm. I use them a lot for snacks while at the farm (fruits, cured meats, glorious "asados" -bbqs-), as well as many daily chores that need to be done (opening bags of grain for the horses, cutting leather to fix saddles and other gear, splitting wood, and a gazillion other things). In Argentine rural culture people expect you to carry a big fixed blade, in fact I get strange looks because my knives are usually smallish.

I'm a document manager for the engineering drawings collection of a major natural gas pipeline company. I can't carry any of my current knife collection at work, but when my birthday knife gets here (Spyderco Kopa), I expect it will help me open a box or two. :)

I don't get outside as often as I would like, but my new Infi Street Scrapper is likely going to be my "camping carry" knife.

Perfect place to start my first thread.
ASE and A&P mechanic but working at the refinery as an operator for the last 13 years.
Also refinery voluteer fire brigade and confine space rescue.

I was a barn operator on a farm for five years. but now im a student, studying forestry. then ill be studying Arboriculture, nothing like climbing a 150 ft tree with a chain saw and cutting away.

I work for a real estate management company and am a facilities director at a 90 unit apartment complex for seniors. I carry a multi-tool on a daily basis which 90% of the time saves me extra trips back to my on site shop for tools.
I do use the blade quite often opening/breaking down boxes, trimming carpet, cutting tape and so on. If my mood is right, I may also carry a pocket knife or lockback.;)

+1 here. I'm an archaeologist and part-time fishing guide. I don't train horses but would like to get into EMS/SAR. My knives see use on the water, in the bush, in my shop and in the city (where I am now :( )

I am the warehouse supervisor for the special Projects division of a major oilfield company, where I use my BSc in Biology and minor in Anthropology to babysit warehouse animals. Everybody knows me as the knife guy in these parts- probably due to the neck knives I wear at work!!

Kris, is that the blue company, or the red company? If it's the red one, I worked in AP for a while last year here in Calgary.

Senior QC Lab Tech for a large chemical company here in Florida.

I spend my days locked in the lab mixing and testing chemicals and trying not to blow anything up...including me :D

Its really an interesting job which gives you no time to think of how slow the time is going by as I have had with previous positions, on the job I use my Sebenza's and Multi-tools for just about everything from samples to boxes etc.

I have been Locksmithing for 23 years now & still love it. When I'm not working, I carry a Ritter Grip M2, a Leatherman mini-tool and a Streamlight Flash light. When I'm at the University working, a custom Leather fanny pack filled with multiple tools is added to the mix.

Network Administrator and Marketing Coordinator... and artist.

I use my knives for everything, and now that I've been carrying my leatherman on my waist daily (instead of just having it in my bag) I find I'm using it just as frequently.

Also: I never used to carry a flashlight, but I started and now I don't know how I operated without one. Which is scary... I don't want to get into that expensive habit too.

I'm a database administrator. I use my knives for everyday things - opening packages, shrink wrap, whatever.

I work as a corrections officer in Canadas north.
I was just looking for work to pay my student loans, and this place offered me on job training and a very decent salary, I suppose due to the isolation. Its the last thing I ever saw myself doing, I'm am more artistic and enjoy making things and tinkering around.
I might start job-sharing shortly, so I will have half the year to mess around and travel, and still make a decent living for the other half.

Oh yeah, I cant use knives at work and could get fired for bringing one through the front door, understandably. But I tend to make up for it on my days off.
